I can’t recommend One Shot Retrievers enough! My Jack Russell puppy, Gemi, was a handful—full of energy and hard to manage with my limited time for training. After a friend’s recommendation, I enrolled her in their six-week obedience program, and it was the best decision I’ve made. Since coming home, she’s calmer, responsive, and obedient—no more pulling on the leash or relying on treats. She now walks at heel, plays fetch off-leash, and is even a bit of a lap dog. Grant did an amazing job with her, and Alex kept me updated every step of the way, answering questions before, during, and even after training. Their care, communication, and results speak for themselves. If you’re looking for professional, reliable dog training—whether for obedience or sporting—One Shot Retrievers is the place to go. Thank you, Grant and Alex, for helping Gemi become her best self!
It has been almost a month since our dog Rocky completed obedience training and I can’t believe the progress he has made. Rocky is an 8 month year old rescue that we have had since he was 9 weeks. We know others who have used One Shot Retrievers and had excellent results so we decided it would be a good idea to get Rocky training in his puppy stage. Rocky has always been a sweet pup but some behaviors we were not ok with was jumping on people and leash pulling. Since returning home those behaviors are gone and Rocky is a different dog. We get compliments often on how wonderful he is. Just today we took him to an off leash dog friendly bar in Houston and were told he’s the best dog to ever come into the establishment. We are super confident dog owners now. If you are thinking about training your dog do not hesitate to give One shot Retrievers a call. I promise you will not be disappointed.
We chose One Shot Retrievers to have our eight month old Labs Obedience trained. Upon arrival Alex spent time with us explaining the training process. The facility was very clean and organized. I felt very comfortable leaving my labs there. After them being there two weeks Alex sent me a video updating us of their progress. I was very impressed with what they had learned in that length of time. At the end of the program Alex and Grant spent 2 hrs with us making sure we understood all the commands they had taught them. Once we got home Alex followed up with us 2 days later making sure everything was going well. I can’t say enough of good things about one shot retrievers they did a awesome job. Thank you so much Alex and Grant.
Bottom line up front: Alex and Grant of OSR are exceptional pro trainers, and I would recommend them without hesitation. The stressors of selecting a trainer and getting it right was a hang-up for me. What will be the return on my investment? Does my pup have potential, and to what extent? Can they work out any bad habits we have allowed? How much will my dog be worked with? Will I allow the trainer extra time needed to work issues out? The above-listed thoughts constantly raced through my mind until we were referred to and met with Alex and Grant Huff of One Shot Retrievers. At that point, Rip was nothing more than a lovable companion with issues, hunted a few times, and was a little older than most dogs going into training. Alex was always upfront with us and communicated frequently throughout the training. Upon completing the training, we were impressed by what she could do with Rip. As a parent, having a front-row seat to observe my 13-year-old son's confidence in handling and Rip's execution in the field was an incredible experience. I look forward to our next adventure with OSR!
