I appreciate Dr. Z and his staff so much. My little conure suddenly fell ill a couple of days ago with what looked like respiratory problems, and they squeezed her in right away to check her out. Unfortunately, it was too late, and she did pass yesterday. Since then, everyone at Derrydale has been so helpful and compassionate in helping me get answers as to what happened, and in helping me navigate through this time. Dr. Z performed a post-mortem and was very thorough in his discussions with me. His front desk staff was incredible in helping me set up a private cremation for my little bubby. To everyone I’ve interacted with at Derrydale this week, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We went to this animal hospital because they are experienced with ferrets as most in the area are not. Honestly I’m so grateful as they were all so kind and very helpful to discover the issue with our ferret. Doctor Tim Zaharchuk (not 100% sure about the spelling) but he was honestly so great. He really knows his stuff and he operated on our ferret to remove foreign bodies from his stomach. The surgery went great and our ferret is recovering beautifully. All the ladies there were awesome and very caring and genuine. As far as pricing I have no idea if their rates are comparable. All vet clinics are pricey nonetheless but the service was amazing and would definitely recommend this place and specifically Tim. Appreciate everything they did for us this week and saving our ferret.

I've debated for years whether I should post what happened at Derrydale but the moment still stings to this day... Back in 2021, my cat was diagnosed with a skin tumor and early stage renal failure. I was doing everything I can to keep up with the medication despite Derrydale charging an extreme amount of money for the specialized food and medicine to which the food went and backorder and Derrydale could not provide alternate places to order the food, forcing me to try and find the food elsewhere by myself. After a while, my cat skin tumor got worse and they suggested it be removed by surgery which I agreed to do, however they could not remove the entire tumor and provided an extremely tight body wrap that my cat struggled to fit in. I told them I could only pay through direct billing of my insurance as I was struggling financially to which they reluctantly agreed. My cat continued to decline afterwards and I was doing everything I can to book appointments but they were always too busy. This was at the time where they used the last hour to do cleaning of their building instead of accommodation for a sick pet. I begged the part time receptionist at the time during the last week before Christmas 2021 to book me in but she refused to even get my information to see if I was a client of Derrydale. I was forced to then go to the emergency vet on Hwy 10 where my cat eventually passed on Boxing Day because of a bad reaction to the medication given, because the emergency vet didn't know the whole situation like Derrydale would have known. While I appreciate the friendly customer service from the staff and especially Sherry after the passing of my cat. Derrydale let me down when I needed them at the most crucial time of my cats existence. Please if they don't provide you with options, look elsewhere so it can save your pets life.

The best animal hospital there is! I visited Derrydale Animal Hospital for the first time a few days ago and my Budgies and I love them! The clinic is organized, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Sherri and Sam at the front desk were incredibly helpful from the second we walked in. Both were extremely kind and caring and super friendly with the budgies. Dr. Tim and Jessica examined both birds thoroughly and professionally. He did an exceptional job with my pets (especially at keeping them calm throughout the visit). Further, he provided plenty of information about how to keep my birds healthy and answered every question I had. I left the clinic feeling informed and more than satisfied with the care my birds' received. I would strongly recommend this clinic to pet owners, specifically those with birds. My budgies loved this place so much, they didn't want to leave! Thanks Derrydale Animal Hospital
