Always reachable when necessary! Rented from a property managed by Tandem for 2 years and our maintenance requests were always answered timely. When moving out recently, Tandem let us keep additional things in the property for 2 additional days beyond our lease; very understanding of our move-out situation. Bottom line - if you keep up with your responsibilities as a tenant, Tandem with return the favor and more.
Please read the edit!! This place sucks. Rented here a few years ago and a convo today is prompting this review. NEVER answered calls, NEVER answered emails, and moving out THEY WILL try to scam you out of your deposit. You're probably better off renting a box and living out of that or living in your car than dealing with these people. Edit: this owner is hilarious and all in their feelings because I'm pointing out everything I experienced. No my dog was not using the bathroom in the garage. No I did not do $3,800 worth of damage they tried to charge me $2,000 for a paint job while I only live there for 2 years and it was just me my wife grown child and adult dog. Also the grass was cut before we left. Send your lawyer please because I still have plenty of evidence none of the above listed is not true. Enjoy the one star rating you have another coming I'm sure
Long but necessary review coming up, but basically I agree with the previous reviewer who stated that Tandem treats tenants like commodified bricks. I wanted to leave a good review but my move-out process has been horrible. I was a tenant in one of their properties for a little over 1.5 years. Everything was pretty good up until my move out. Everyone I worked with was particularly kind, the application and approval process was smooth, and the team handled maintenance requests very quickly. I went through a break-up with the partner whom I lived with and Tandem was incredibly kind to let me renew the lease for 6 months instead of another year. At the end of my lease, too, my next living arrangement fell through overnight and they let me extend for one month. I greatly appreciate their flexibility. However, I’ve had some issues, most of which have to do with this move-out process. First of all, the neighborhood I lived in has an HOA. They got on me a lot, and people at Tandem knew that this HOA was particularly annoying. Fine. But, there was one time I did not receive warnings from the HOA about my lawn being too long or trash can being “too visible” (other times I had emailed forwarded to me by Tandem) and then Tandem decided to charge me $100 for lease violations. I emailed them letting them know the letters showed up in my mailbox later on and were postmarked way earlier and they did not respond. At my move-out review, two Tandem employees said they were warned about the HOA from the homeowner. But no one warned me? And they still charged me instead of defending me to the HOA? Yes, tenants are just cash cows to Tandem. As for move-out, Tandem charged me for electric and water for my final month despite me still being charged directly from NES and Metro Water. I emailed about this *repeatedly* and have not heard back. Tandem’s charges were also greater than the utility companies’. I am still owed $138.79 by Tandem for this. Second of all, I was told I’m being charged a $125 “cleaning fee” for the house, despite the lease saying a cleaning fee may be charged upon move-out if the property is not in “broom clean” condition. I scrubbed the house up and down before my move-out review, which says a lot because there were dead cockroaches in the living room when I moved in that I had to clean myself. (I took a door off the hinges to use a spare closet as an office; I didn’t put the door back on, my fault, and they decided to charge about $80 for this, which is absurd but I’m not arguing.) I emailed about this about a month ago - and sent receipts for my payments - and was told that it would be followed up on. It was not. Lastly, I still need my personal keys back from the lock I was allowed to install on the house. I also have not received a response about this. I will update my review when Tandem finally responds and refunds me the $263.79. Or I’ll update it if I have to get one of my lawyer colleagues to help me. Whichever comes first. This has not been a good experience and I would advise against moving into a Tandem-managed property. Know your rights.
