Jeff’s approach to training was exactly what I needed for my pit mix who developed behavioral issues in her teenage years. He coached me through effective obedience training and after just one or two sessions I was able to manage my dog in these more challenging situations and started seeing results. I saw a couple different trainers before Jeff and really nothing compares to his approach. My life’s been made so much easier because of his training. Can’t recommend enough!

I brought Bronte, my 2 year-old, half Dalmatian and half Husky, to Smarty Dogs when I was at my wits’ end. Bronte is the most energetic dog I have ever had. and I didn’t know how to deal with her! She would pull my arm off on walks (so much so that my arm hurt) and she would freak out when seeing another dog on leash. I was about to give her up and revoke her, but then I saw Jeff and Jay working with some dogs at Hazeltine Park m, and the dogs were SO well behaved. I decided to go with the 4 week boarding and training program. It was a bit pricy but worth every penny! She came back so well behaved! The only problem was that Jeff had to then train ME in how to keep it up! It took me a couple of weeks to fully implement the proper training techniques but after that, I got it! Now Bronte and I walk happily. She seems like a completely different dog. Walks so well now and not dog reactive the way she was. I am so grateful for Jeff and Jay for the work they have put into Bronte. The work that we have done has made Bronte happier and strengthened our relationship. I couldn’t be happier and can’t recommend SMART DOGS highly enough!!

SmartDogs saved my dog’s life. We adopted Sir Charles, 50 lb pit (not our first), in May. After a few weeks, we were on the brink of returning him to the shelter. He ran away. He ate everything. But the realest concern was his 10/10 aggression towards other dogs. Owning a pit requires being responsible for the safety of everyone around the dog at all times and Sir Charles was one leash slip away from making everyone unsafe. Enter SmartDogs. Jeff made himself available immediately. He listened. He let me know, up front, to not expect a happy go lucky dog waltzing through the tulips - maybe ever. He gave me straight forward, easy to follow lessons and principles. He kept listening. We made adjustments. When a tactic failed, first Jeff corrected my mistakes. Then, if it failed again, we moved on. Sir Charles is still A LOT. He may never be able to integrate fully with our other dogs - a fact I can handle, in large part, because of the realistic expectations Jeff and his excellent assistant Jalen set out when we began and have managed throughout the process. I can not recommend SmartDogs enough ❤️
