On Feb 4 Rapid Service sent a plumber around to give us a quote on installing a water tank. The plumber was 45 minutes late for the appointment, which cost me time at work. When I first asked him how much he thought the job would be, he told me $8,000 to $10,000. Then he asked me if I was getting other quotes. I said yes, 3 or 4 other quotes. His next sentence was that this job would likely cost $3,000 to $5,000. The cost of the job halved in about 20 seconds, because I was getting other quotes. Amazing! Finally, I asked for a written quote, for which he charged me $35 on the spot. He promised the quote that day. So far nothing, and yes I checked the junk mail. I guess they don't want the work.
