Customer experiences
We recently entrusted our foster dog/now our dog, Evie, to Canis for a six-week board and train program, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. From the moment I arrived for her consultation I was impressed by the welcoming atmosphere and the commitment to canine welfare that Brent embodies in his beautifully maintained facility. The entire staff at Canis is extraordinary! Their kindness and passion for dog training and behavior shines through in every interaction from the moment you enter. A special shout-out goes to Kaitlyn, who is truly the best trainer I could have hoped for. Her patience, expertise, and personalized approach made a world of difference for Evie. Sheâs a reactive dog and although she wants to love on people, her trust isnât there and she gets scared. Under Kaitlynâs guidance, I saw incredible improvements in Evie's behavior, and she has emerged from the program more obedient and confident. Evie absolutely loves Kaitlyn, as do we, and she is so excited to see her every time we walk in the door. Additionally, I am grateful for the ongoing training classes and the valuable advice and support provided. Canis has been more than just a board and train facility; itâs become a critical part of Evieâs continued development. Thank you to everyone at Canis for your dedication and for making this journey a joyful one for both Evie and our family. I wholeheartedly recommend their services to any dog owner looking to enhance their petâs behavior.
The team at CANIS are absolute miracle workersâespecially Kaitlyn, who worked directly with our 110 lb Alaskan Malamute, Finn. She was exceptional: incredibly kind, knowledgeable, patient, and determined. She seemed to intuit exactly what Finn needed, whether it was learning a new skill or unlearning a problematic behavior. Before CANIS, Finn had been kicked out of daycare for being too unruly. He was reactive, lacked impulse control, and would become fixated on other dogs. We tried places like Zoom Room and Petrock, and while they meant well, they simply werenât equipped to handle a high-energy, reactive large breed like Finn. CANIS is a different story. They have a large, capable staff and run group classes with multiple instructors to ensure everyone gets personalized attention. As a board-and-train facility, theyâre also able to bring in other dogs to create tailored training situations based on your dogâs specific challenges. Over several months, we boarded Finn at CANIS for a total of six weeks during times we had to travel. Each visit focused on different behavioral goals. After his most recent three-week stay, we returned to a transformed dog. Finn now, sits, lays, waits, stays, heels and calmly lies under the table at coffee shops, all in the presence of other dogsâsomething that would have been unthinkable before. We canât thank Kaitlyn and the CANIS team enough. Thanks to their dedication, Finn isnât just a good boyâheâs the goodest boy.
I took my 1 year old West German Show Lines German Shepherd Rip to Canis to solve his reactivity issues. After meeting the owner Brent and the trainer, Kaitlin, I felt very comfortable leaving Rip in a 4-week boarding & train program. I came back once a week to train with Rip and and see how he had progressed. Kaitlyn, the trainer, developed a very strong bond with Rip. She has taught him to have great manners, and give him the confidence that a well train dog should possess. Kaitlin's talents as a dog trainer is very evident and I highly recommend her as a trainer for anyone who is looking for their dog to be properly trained. Her bond with my German Shepherd is undeniable and I will continue my dogs ongoing training with her. Thank you Kaitlin!
My 8 month old dog just finished up a six week day train with Cristiana and the whole team at Canis. He loved to go to school. I know every dog is different and needs different behavior modifications. We worked on leash pressure, basic commands, vocabulary, distance, distractions, duration, counter surfing, reactivity with positive reinforcement and much more. That made my dog, confident, obedient and disciplined. Now working on conditioning with E-collar off leash. Overall, what a great experience, my dog and I had. We still attend Sunday group sessions. Itâs so much fun to teach your dog new things. I give Canis 10 âď¸ Stars. The results are amazing!!! Thank you everyone. We love you.â¤ď¸
