Customer experiences
I go to YMCA only to swim and the Hot tube and Sauna, but this month the Hot tub was closed almost all month!! That is not good!!! I paid for it and I didn't use it for all month. What is happening with the Director? Lisa is her name? or the supervisor? please fix it because we need it!! because that I gave you one star! and for everything else I like it and is why I have been there for 5 or 6 years!!
If you are a serious strength or competitive sports athlete ... dont bother joining or expect to be able to do deadlift or perform other Olympic lifts as the uneducated staff will literally harass you relentlessly if you attempt heavy lifts. They do not understand strength training, olympic lifts or what the equipment they have is designed for or how its properly used. Its absolutely ridiculous.
I recently visited the YMCA with my 7-year-old special needs son, and I was extremely disappointed with the treatment we received. As soon as we entered the facility, the lifeguard called me over and asked me to bring my son before entering the swimming area to take a shower and use the bathroom. I was taken aback by this request, especially since my son is toilet-trained and was perfectly clean and neat. This was just her assumption as he is on spectrum. People should be awared that all autistic kids are not the same. What bothered me the most was the assumption made by the lifeguard without even interacting with us or assessing our needs. As a parent of a child with special needs, it's frustrating to encounter such lack of understanding and sensitivity. As a paying member, I expect a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families, regardless of their abilities. I hope the YMCA will take steps to provide better training for its staff on disability awareness and sensitivity. Unfortunately, this experience has left a sour taste, and I would caution other families with special needs children to be prepared for potential misunderstandings.
Great experience, consistent and clean. I always get quality exercise when I visit this location. I enjoy the pool, hot tub and sauna also.
