This was our second time engaging Peter Tsuluhas for a real estate transaction, as we had no issues with the purchase of our first home six years ago. Unfortunately, this experience was entirely different. Peter was fully aware we were closing on another property the following day, making this a highly time-sensitive transaction. Despite this, he neglected to coordinate with our other lawyer or suggest a certified cheque, instead couriering a non-certified cheque to an undisclosed RBC branch on the closing date of the property we sold. By sheer luck, I went to the same branch, where I discovered a 4-day hold had been placed on the cheque. I spent three hours with the bank and then an entire day with the branch manager, eventually escalating the issue to the VP level in Toronto to resolve it. Without our connections, we could have missed our closing and faced legal consequences. When I called Peter to address this, he was dismissive and unapologetic, insisting that a lawyer’s trust cheque and a certified cheque were the same, which is factually incorrect. His attitude was essentially, “I have your money; it’s the bank’s problem.” He even went on to reference his handling of larger transactions, as if to diminish the importance of ours. I strongly advise against using Peter for real estate transactions. Once he has your money, be prepared for poor treatment and a lack of accountability.

He was very accommodating with respect to arranging to meet by video and signing all the documents. Cynthia from the office is very prompt in communicating by email. Overall it was very nice to work with them!
