Customer experiences
The black man with the salt and pepper beard i believe his name is Micheal has one of the nastiest attitudes. The other two ladies were nice and helpful. When working in a customer service role it’s important to be welcoming and having a nice attitude. Also I was almost over charged I rented a uhaul cargo van for $69 for 4 hours and brought it back in time and they tried to charge my card $158
Owner is a complete jerk. Don’t rent from here they’ve been giving me the run around all morning. But first I called over the phone to confirm the price, pick up time/ if I can pay in cash (was told yes), and to see if I can leave it at my destination I was told that’s fine. 1st time there was 8:00am to pick up my rental. First guys I was dealing with was so rude, i tell them my name for the reservation we then tells me the price is going up $80 okay fine I’ll be right back with the money. I get back there it’s time to pay the guy says hold on and walks away. Comes back and says “yeah the owner says he’s not talking cash from you and yeah you have to leave it at your destination.” Can’t explain why I can’t pay with cash anymore but I leave a third time to put it on a card. I come back this time I’m dealing with James the best person they have there. So we are talking he calls his boss because they don’t have a one way truck. Now I’m confused because I was just told I can leave it there but okay. He hangs up with the owner and told me that the owner is giving me the run around because he doesn’t want to rent to me because he thinks I’m not going to return it. Not I’m highly disappointed and unsatisfied with my customer experience here. It’s my first time ever renting a U-Haul and James understood and really helped me out. This whole experience was just horrible, the discrimination was at a all time high. And I will be reaching out to corporate!!
The truck was only a quarter full of fuel so the first thing we had to do was fill it. That added time to our journey we were not expecting. It would be nice to pick up a truck that is completely ready to go. As we didn't know how much gas the truck would need, and we had to drive to Richmond we ended up putting $75 in to fill it. At drop off in Richmond there was 3/4 of a tank left so this added a cost to our budget that we feel was unnecessary. Our loss is someone else's gain. Initially we were supposed to pick up the truck in Newport News, but we got a call to say they didn't have the truck we requested so we would have to go to Hampton. This too added to our journey time.
Over the past 4 months I have gone to this place about 6 times to try and get a propane refill. Out of these 6 times I have only been able to get propane twice. Once it was just too crowded to even get in the parking lot, and the last 3 times I went the employees told me the propane area was closed. Yesterday was the straw that broke the camels back. I called while I was on the way there and asked if the propane was available. The girl I spoke with on the phone said yes. Less than 10 minutes later I arrived and as soon as I got out of the car with my propane tank the guy outside said “propane is closed”. I told him I just called and he nonchalantly said “sorry”. Im done with this place. Do yourself a favor and go to Tractor Supply if you need propane. The extra drive to Tractor Supply is worth it. Unlike Uhaul if you call Tractor Supply and they tell you propane is available, they will actually be there to fill your propane when you get there. Unacceptable
