Customer experiences
While in the area, we were looking for a place to grab some food and enjoy the ongoing festivities. This looked like a solid option and we got on pretty quickly! We were seated outside and it was beautiful. The decorations and greenery was giving California casa. What did not give was the service and the food. Despite more people being out and it getting busy, it did feel like our server didn't want us there. Our orders took an exorbitant amount of time and even getting a hot sauce bottle was some time too. The food was also middling. The beer (being recommended as a red ale) was more a sour than anything. The nachos were pitiful, with cheese distributed in an uneven fashion. The cheesesteak was dull, with the bun being a bit dry and no other dressing apart from the mayo shining through. I didn't even taste any onions in there. My colleagues ordered fish and chips and that was even worse. The filet was thin, which meant the fry had to be quick and hence, it was like eating a fish cracker in the worst way. Came for the vibes, left a disappointed man. I'm hoping they are better on a less busy day.
Visiting the area and camping at MacGregor and we wanted to find some fish and chips. SUCCESS! The Wismer House was so good. The fish and chips comes with two pieces and the kids meal has one piece. I was so happy when the server said I could order the kids meal! Normalize smaller portions as a choice!! Highly recommend! The beer brewed here is very good too! Visit and eat here!
We sat on the outside patio and had an early dinner. They have several vegetarian options, which is great. As you can see from the photos, the food presentation is appetizing, simple, and colourful. Food was hot and their beers on tap, were tasty and welcome. They have a great beer that is like a corona but it’s a Mexican logger and it’s top-notch. The atmosphere is busy, lots of traffic, and we didn’t appreciate the couple that got up, walked behind us and stood out on the sidewalk having a cigarette while they waited for their food. Perhaps the restaurant could have a designated area set aside for people who want to do that, that’s a way from other people’s table. The hostess and servers were pleasant and a tentative. We enjoyed sitting outside and watching all the action.
The wait was absolutely worth it! We almost went elsewhere when we learned 6 groups were ahead of us, but luckily we were called back in time. The homemade Meat Lovers pizza was DELICIOUS - the pizza sauce was so well made, and the cheese wasn't bog standard No Frills cheese. You MUST try the cheese hot honey bites - so so so good. Picture included - take a look. Beers were very tasty and described well. 100% will go back and recommend to all the people.
The Wismer House is a pub.
