I stopped in on a Tuesday to have 2 backpacks and a binocular case repaired. The 2 gentlemen at the counter were very friendly and helpful. I showed them the couple of zippers and a clasp that needed repaired, they ensured me they would look them all over. They told me I could pick them up on Friday, yes, 3 days later. I received a call Friday morning advising me they were all repaired and ready for pickup. I've been using Badlands products for nearly 20 years. They have always been quality products, and they stand behind their products. I would recommend Badlands to all hunters and any outdoor enthusiasts.

So I'm here to talk about the warranty because it does not work the way I thought it did when I bought my products. At companies like Patagonia or darn tuff, when you bring your gear in to be repaired, sometimes they repair it and sometimes they just give you a gift card to use on their website to buy a replacement for what you've brought in. Badlands does not do that. From what I've seen online, some people have brought in their backpacks to be repaired and some people have had good experiences, some bad. But I wanted to turn in a backpack that they no longer make, for a smaller model. Tyler on the phone told me that they do not do trade-ins because they would go out of business if they did something like that. I thought that was kind of odd because it didn't seem unconditional to me, and Patagonia does that all the time and they're doing fantastic. I directly asked him if my backpack was beyond repair if it would be replaced and he begrudgingly said that they would in that case replace it but it was a "suspicious thing for me to say." Which, yeah. It sucks that in order to get the thing I want, he was basically telling me I would have to destroy my backpack first and send in the pieces. It just seems silly and dishonest, the exact opposite of what I'm looking for in customer service when a company offers an unconditional warranty. I mean it requires me to destroy the backpack if I want a replacement. Am I being crazy here? Doesn't that just suck that that's how it works? I'm sure that they would repair it if I sent it in, but I just thought you should all know before you buy one that their unconditional warranty does not work the same as other companies. So if you're buying it for the warranty, go somewhere else. The gear is fine, but when I buy a backpack for that much money, I'm basically buying the right to never regret my purchase. That is not the experience I have come away with.
