Beautiful decorated salon, and polite staff. I’ve been going to SJ hair for four to five years and have seen 4+ hair stylists throughout my time. I can say I’ve formed a solid opinion of this salon and I have to say it’s a good neighbourhood place, but definitely not the best. I’ve been asking for the same usual cut (layers with bangs) without any major difference, always bringing reference photos, and the stylist techniques have wildly varied (and rightfully so as I’ve been exploring different stylists within the salon from senior staff to junior staff). I overall wasn’t impressed with their techniques and how many of the haircuts grew out, with probably the exception of the first lady who I visited there. Although the stylist were friendly, throughout the years they all didn’t pay much attention to client-relationship building and making an effort to make this salon your forever go-to. Also, the dynamics in the store were sometimes a bit odd, there didn’t seem like much warmth and friendliness between stylists which lowered the quality of the environment which at times felt like a hair salon you’d find in a mall. However, this is perhaps reflective their pricing as I found it was reasonable for the service in terms of technique, timing, and products used. It wasn’t overly overpriced but not cheap either. Moving forward, I don’t see myself going out of my way to visit this salon.

I went for “The Basics” haircut and was pleasantly greeted by the staff’s hospitality (complementary Chai latte woo!!) and the shop’s cozy atmosphere. For the price of the service, they definitely went over and beyond with not just the quality of the cut, but the process surrounding (hairwashing, drying, styling) was performed at a professional standard. It’s no doubt the best experience I’ve had with a haircut.

Emilee is the best y'all!!! She's put two sets of extentions on me. The first were u-tips the second microbeads. Each install, she made sure I was comfortable. We had great chats and she went into great detail of how to take care of each install technique. She's so so kind (to a fault! ) Emilee knows what she's doing and if she doesn't know something, she will say so and then research it so she can give you INFORMED advice! Which I find so rare nowadays ... oh gawd.... I sound 100 years old. Anyhoo.... Emilee is amazing and if you're looking for a quality stylist I highly recommend her for any service you require. Cheers!

Emilee is FANTASTIC! Very knowledgeable in hair cutting and styling! She is so easy going which made the appointment fun and enjoyable! She listened to my requests and asked questions to make sure I was comfortable with the cut and style. Such a great experience! I absolutely love my hair and have gotten many compliments!
