Went for some lunch with my family and it was cozy and warm and had a lovely atmosphere. Busy with lunch time guests but we were waited on very well. The staff were lovely and the food came out in good time presented beautifully and was hot and plenty of it. I had fish of the day which was plaice with a buttery and caper sauce and fries with salad. My sister and niece had the steak and ale pie with mash and veg my nephew had chicken and chips and my dad had beer battered fish and chips and we all loved our meals. Definitely a gem of a pub 👌 👏 🙌

We came across this place by random, we needed to meet friends down the A3 and this came highly recommended in the area. My rating is more based on the interestingness of this place, the friendly and efficient service and quirkiness. The food was good, wasn’t amazing, was not the cheapest but not the most expensive, but this is to be expected these days as I know pubs are struggling especially with costs, so I’m not going to hold it against them. The staff are super friendly and we would highly recommend coming here if you want a pub steeped in history and have a good experience at the same time, the only shame is it’s in the middle of nowhere, so someone has to drive.

As the name says, off the beaten track slightly but very easy to find/access when you know the pub. Lovely warm atmosphere, great food and proper log fires! I loved the old fashioned drinks price list from "back in the day". We shall definitely be back for another visit soon!

Lovely old pub, I recommend the fish and chips, very nice indeed, ice cream is lovely too Staff friendly and helpful The old part is so nice, fire place is great
