My husband and I attended an event in Toronto and needed an affordable place to stay overnight near the venue. The royal oak fit those needs perfectly. The staff were great, and the rooms sufficient. It's not somewhere you stay if you're looking for excess or anything bougie, but it will meet the needs of any reasonable person looking for someone good to stay at a good price. Transit is available right outside making it easily accessible for anywhere you might need to be, the service is great, and the rooms are small but enough, basically like an average sized bedroom with your own bathroom. Will personally be staying again if the need arises, recommend for sure.
I planned a very last minute trip to Toronto after not being able to visit in 6 years! (stayed from 10/23-10/29) I came for a concert event at TD Music Hall on 10/24/25 & this Inn was only 15 minutes from the venue! So that was my main reason to choose this place. Along the rates were not bad & the 505 TTC bus had a stop right in-front of their property which was helpful, I was excited to stay here!! First small issue I had was, when I checked into room 208, the previous guest had left the AC ON, so I had a iced out the UNIT issue & they said to turn on the heater & it will be ok. it was over 24 hours, it did not improve, just had to request more towels and the heater was not actually blowing air out & just melting the ice. Overall the staff is nice, sometimes you have to wait to get something done, 1 person at the desk & they have to take the calls or handle another person's request, it would have been nice if sometimes there was a second person around. Anyways, if you are someone who just needs a room to leave their stuff, change & shower/sleep, this is a great place for that! After getting my rooms switched a few days later, 206 was perfect for me! I wish I moved in there sooner! The shower was a bit small for me in general, but overall the bed was fine, the space was good & the heater was great in new room 206. P.S. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE RACCOON WALLPAPER ALL OVER THE INN!!!!! The limited parking had me concerned at first since I was going to have a rental car, but I was able to get a spot & paid for it during check-in. a 2-car limit was risky, but I'm glad I got my spot. I am now a parking on the sidewalk expert after this trip lol The managers at both afternoon & overnight were sweet guys, if you needed anything, they would do that for you & make sure you're ok & enjoying your stay! Remote batteries dead, fresh batteries delivered! need extra towels? you got it! (you have to go downstairs since there is no phone to call them) Anywho, for me this was fine but for future guests, this is a short 1 or 2 flight up to your room, so make sure your able to go up the stairs with your luggages. (thankfully I was on second floor lol) And for my own personal suggestion is to: pack your own slippers! I absolutely regret not bringing house slippers or fuzzy socks for when I'm walking around my room floors, in my mind I know a hotel gives you those, It was my first time in a INN & I forget the amenities are a bit less. I definately would stay in the Royal Oak Inn Again in 2026 when I hopefully comeback in the spring/summer. Despite the small issues at the beginning, it was handled quickly & my trip was overall amazing! I felt like home for the 6 days I was there & I felt comfortable to take the TTC to downtown & back after returning my car a day before my departure & Once again, I Do appreciate the managers who go out the way to make someones first stay a good one! This Review is for you guys! Keep it up! Thank you Royal Oak Inn! Sincere, Shadpari From NYC (Blue VW Jetta)
The hotel, established around 1930, and located near to downtown. The rooms are compact, they’re thoughtfully equipped with all the essential amenities. The staff were warm, welcoming, and available around the clock, which made the stay even more pleasant. There's a cafeteria on-site offering a healthy breakfast, and coffee is available throughout the day. From hotel we can easily reach downtown attractions and a streetcar stop conveniently located right outside. Overall, it was a good stay. The washroom was quite small, but considering it’s a budget-friendly hotel, that’s understandable.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — Excellent Stay at Royal Oak Inn I recently stayed at the Royal Oak Inn and had a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly humble, cooperative, and helpful—truly going above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. They also had excellent knowledge of the local area, which made getting around much easier. The location is another major advantage. The hotel is conveniently situated near downtown Toronto, with a streetcar stop right at the doorstep. The complimentary breakfast and free WiFi were definite pluses, adding great value to the stay. Overall, the hotel is clean, comfortable, and very convenient. I highly recommend the Royal Oak Inn to anyone looking for an affordable and well-located place to stay in Toronto.
