While documenting restaurants for Alameda Restaurant Week, I spent time at Alley & Vine photographing their standout offerings. I was impressed by their tomahawk steak - probably one of the best steak deals I've seen anywhere. The place is surprisingly family friendly despite its upscale appearance. They maintain a great wine selection that complements their menu perfectly. What's interesting is how it feels like a cross between classic Alameda and going to San Francisco - warm and cozy yet has an artistic elegance to it. The food is underrated for sure, delivering quality and presentation you might not expect.
Recent reviews were mixed, but it was a good experience for us. The location outside below the stairs and next to the parking was actually cosy with the decorations, very atypical at night. Food was good, even if you can expect more at this price. Service was nice.
I think this was the worst restaurant experience in Alameda for me so far. The service was very nice, but the food was below average, and, considering the price, very bad value. We came in for a light meal, and got French onion soup, appetizers, and a beet salad. 1. The French onion soup was served with burnt blow-torched cheese on top, but lukewarm underneath. Felt like something a cheap cafe could do, but not a sit-down restaurant. The flavor was below average overall. 2. The calamari were like rubber, very average presentation. 3. Salad felt like something that came out of a bag from Safeway. Overall, pretty disappointing experience.
I ordered a tomahawk steak on my birthday and Literally came out well done that had to be recooked and I also ordered garlic pasta that came out with a tortillini pasta. Sides were cold since steak had to be recooked , however they reheated them in the microwave. I ordered garlic prawns that were really good. Will not be back . Initially I thought it would be a place I would definitely return to , but I was wrong
