Duncan FWe haven’t previously visited The George, so we were very pleasantly surprised to find superb pub food at reasonable prices. Our lunch with friends was the launch day for a new menu, so staff were very interested to hear what we thought.|Wow! Fantastic, tasty dishes from start to finish. The cured salmon and prawns starter was totally delicious. The chef has focussed the new menu on warming, hearty food for the winter season. There are still steaks, burgers, lasagne etc, but we went for beef short rib, liver & bacon and porchetta.|As a bonus, the two young ladies who served us couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming. We will definitely add this to our local favourites list - well recommended.
John CLovely pub with a great atmosphere. We were greeted at the door by the landlady. We explained that we have a dog and were welcomed with open arms. Shown to a seat in the bar area where we met some of the really friendly locals. They made a real fuss of our little dog and he loved the attention.|Good menu with plenty of choice. Dairy intolerence perfectly catered for. Prawn sandwich was awesome with nice bread and plentiful filling, chips and a small side salad. I had the baked potato with cheese and baked beans. I loved the cheese was melted under the grill and it was soft and gooey. The spud had a crisp skin, yummy. Beer was good with an extensive choice.|Highly recommend|
jilly PThank you so much to all staff at The George, for our fantastic Christmas lunch. There was a large gang of us but the food arrived seamlessly, on time and hot. The chicken ballantine was totally delicious (that sauce!!) and the turkey roast a fine feast, with lush green vegetables and a big fat Yorkie. Yum. Puddings were fabulous and the service was unbeatable. You must have all planned and worked so hard. The room looked so special, so Christmassy and we all had a cracker! A thousand thank-yous for a memorable afternoon.
