Steph WStayed for a few nights. Such a warm welcome and looked after really well. Food was so delicious we ate there twice for dinner. Small downside that they don't do breakfasts but there at plenty of cafes and other hotels within 100m that do, Location couldn't have been better for us. In the middle of the market place (small market on Fridays), with shops all around. Helmsley Castle within walking distance with the beautiful Rievaulx Abbey just a few miles down the road. Will definitely stay there again.

We highly recommend The Royal Oak as a great place for couples, families, and four legged friends. Centrally located with easy access to the natural beauty of North Yorkshire.

SickonthebusNot a great establishment but in a nice village. Our hosts gave off an impression of not being too bothered we had arrived, our shower was dirty, the bar not too clean and the room overpriced. Why is it that some establishments assume that because their pretty village/town is popular they can up the price and provide a poor service. We had hoped to book breakfast when we arrived as the website we booked through stated. Unfortunately they needed a lot more advanced warning. We tried two other places next morning who also didn’t seem in a rush to provide the breakfast advertised. If you dnt want custom dnt advertise you are open. However there are better pubs to stay in around the area and whilst some may be dearer they are clean and provide a more professional service.
