Customer experiences
First impression of Tattle Coffee House near St Paul’s is that it is tiny, the tables are really cramped. The cafe is actually connected to the lobby of Lost Property St Paul’s hotel which is nice but does make the space feel a bit squeezed. I managed to squeeze into a side bench table with a bit of manoeuvring, but something about the pricing just put me off right away. The menu says £3.80 for an Iced Americano but I was charged £4.28 when I ordered, even though I brought my own reusable cup. I know some places offer discounts for bringing your own cup and some do not, which is fine, but I have never been charged more than the price on the menu before. It is only 50p but it left a bad taste. Speaking of taste, the coffee itself was not good. It came with just two or three little ice cubes floating in it, was pretty much room temperature and tasted a bit dirty. Not a great way to start the day. On the plus side, the tall barista who came in after was super sweet and when I asked for more ice she was happy to help. The place is also laptop friendly with plenty of sockets around and you can easily connect to the hotel lobby wifi which is decent speed. I have been to over 100 cafes in London and there are very few that I would say I would not return to, but sadly this is one of them.
Lovely place with great service. Thank you to Jun for taking good care of us and making sure we felt looked after. Kudos for all the vegan options, and excellent croissants. Big fan of the interior design too.
It’s a little cute cafe that’s right next to my hotel lobby. Only ordered croissants and cappuccinos but they are great. Jun is a friendly and energetic barista who’s also checking on every guest making sure needs are met. Also fairly low noise considering the busy area.
I recently visited Tattle cafe and was quite disappointed with the service charge policy. Upon receiving my receipt, I noticed an unexpected 12.5% service charge had been added. This charge was not mentioned by the staff at any point during my visit, which I found quite frustrating. After reading previous reviews, I discovered that the service charge is mentioned on the menu. However, it’s disappointing that the staff didn’t take the initiative to inform me directly. Transparency is key to good customer service, and I believe this should have been clearly communicated. Overall, this experience left me feeling dissatisfied, and I hope the cafe considers addressing this issue to improve customer trust and satisfaction.
