Customer experiences
My daughter had a serious unknown illness after many visits to fdoctor/hospital appointments. I finally took her to St. Joe’s emergency room. A Brilliant young doctor was on duty. He diagnosed the problem and made arrangements for her to be transferred to KU hospital by ambulance where she received lifesaving surgery. My beautiful daughter is alive today because of that awesome doctor at St. Joe. It was a very rare tumor on the adrenal gland. The adrenal gland had to be removed which was a very delicate surgeries. I wish I could remember his name to give him credit. I was too frazzled to remember names that night but I’ll never forget his face.
Worst hospital ever. Went in for a dog bite, they stitched it too tight, so infection had no way to drain. Infection got worse, needed emergency surgery to remove the infection and 'save the arm' all bc they stitched it too toght in the first place and didn't give strong enough antibiotic to prevent it from getting worse. Then kept me in the hospital for 6 days on fluids, until the point where i was so puffed up from too much fluids that i couldnt move my knees. Finally one good nurse noticed thos and asked the dr why i was still on fluids and they said bc i wasnt able to keep food and water down which wasnt true, I was still drinking plenty of water just couldnt tolerate the crap the call food on top of the pain meds... then after 6 days finally able to go to outpatient for wound care. Which was out of network for my insurance so they gave me a cash discount for services. Fast forward a year later, im still getting random bills from random drs, anesthesiologist, and debt collectors bc they never sent my insurance information to all the drs and anesthesiologist, etc. They also billed me over 850 for each outpatient wound care service even though i was also paying cash,- they said one was the dr fee, the over 850 is for the room charge- they charge you for the room even as an outpatient!! I was in the room maybe 15 min per visit, along with dozens of patients shuffled in and out of that room... such a scam!!! Never go to this hospital if you csn avoid it
If I could give 0 stars I would. I took my husband to the ER there and honestly I went off of the bogus reviews. He was in-between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. His blood pressure was at 169 over 119. By the time we got there it had dropped but they refused to tell us to what exactly. They refused to let me go back with him and I'm HIS WIFE!!! He had 2 people talking to him during intake and when he answered the nurse, the lady on the computer put those answers in, not the answers to her questions. I asked her to let the nurse finish before talking to him. I was told that she was talking to him not me. Rude much?! Then they put him in a room and because he was severely dehydrated and asked for a drink of water instead of ice chips the ER doctor, Dr. Michelle Sensenich, got angry with him. She kept telling him that with abdominal pain he can't have water. He kept telling her he didn't have abdominal pain that his blood pressure was very high and he had been working out in the extreme heat all week. She ripped out his IV and told him if he wanted water to get out!!! Seriously, how screwed up is that??!! To my knowledge that is not supposed to happen!! Don't call them if there's a chance that you could die because they obviously don't care if you do!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL!!!!!! I could have lost my husband due to their negligence!!!!
Marsha was the best. She was so personable, realistic, and she hit the vein every time. Bless her heart, I can’t remember her name, but the lady with the two Great Danes was also phenomenal and she made me feel safe. The IV team is also fantastic and I am so grateful for them. Overall 10/10 experience all around!
