Customer experiences
I took my niece to Memorial at 7 p.m. while I had to be back at work. Kept calling her she said still waiting. I got off at 11 :00 p.m. went up where she was she told me they said they will call me back in a few. O tell that’s been along time to wait but she insisted on waiting cause they already had her name she said, I’m up next!” I go home take shower waiting on her to call me when done. I call her phone at 1 a.m. I assume she finally in the back after such long wait. I doze off wake up it’s 2 a.m. still no call from her and I can’t get through to her phone.I figure she finally called back. Call them their laughing and giggling at the ER desk. I tell them I was checking on her I can’t get through to her phone. They tell me we’re extremely busy tonight she hasn’t got called back. I’m like she been there since 7 p.m. The nurse on the phone is very unconcern saying right, you can hear them loudly just chatting. I tell them they can pull her name off the list ain’t no way she been sating there since 7, seven hours for them not to call her back. She said I just sat there because I was in pain and wanted to be seen and there was a few people that came in after me that they call back. I asked when would they call me? They just kept telling me I had a few before me. Totally unprofessional. She definitely won’t be returning.
My 85-year old father was a recent patient at Springfield Memorial Hospital for 18 days. Communication was terrible amongst the different teams treating my dad. One team would say he was medically able to go home, although he was still being treated by other teams, so my dad very confused when he heard he could go home and another team would come in to tell him otherwise. He was also experiencing confusion/agitation during this time so it made it very difficult for him. When discussions began for his release to a rehab center, again the communication was very lacking. We found out a rehab center accepted him on Friday and no further communication until Monday morning at 10:00 am they came into his room to say he was being released at 1:00 pm that day. No advance notice to prepare for his transfer to the rehab center. It was a very long and stressful day that could have been handled much better. I do want to give a shout out to two nurses that he received excellent care from: Olivia on the 6th floor when he was in room 624 and Joy when he was on the 3rd floor. I also want to mention the great care from Lisa Durbin (Palliative Care RN). Our family really appreciates the care my father and us received from these three nurses during this long, stressful time for us! The release process needs to be handled better - ESPECIALLY with senior citizens. This was not acceptable and could have easily been avoided!
Absolutely horrible!!! My wife was transferred there from the emergency room and everyone dismissed her symptoms like she was making it all up. They didn't listen to a word she had said and her chart was completely wrong from what she was saying. The neurological dr just said don't know what's wrong and don't thinks it's related to me so I'm done with you and won't see you again. Then we sat and waited and waited then finally nobody knew what to do so they just sent her home. We weren't home for 5 mintues and she was just miserable. There was Absolutely no treatment given to her!! If I could give negative stats I would.
My son was in the hospital and had a leg amputee, the hospital decided it was ok for him to be discharged without his wheelchair, without therapy, and gave him a piece of crap wheelchair without anti-tip bars. Even though we went and told them all the things he needed before discharge to be successful non of it was done, and he has already flipped that piece of crap wheelchair backwards and hit his head on concrete. This hospital does not treat people like human beings just a paycheck. Also just because someone is physically handicap does not mean they can not think for themselves, live on their own. Stop treating people invalid. I will say infections disease doctors there are amazing!!! They do have that going for them. Memorial hospital needs to get their standards better.
Springfield Memorial Hospital is a medical center.
