Customer experiences
Dr. Rasmussen is amazing! Came here not knowing what to expect - just found this place on google but saw they had good reviews so felt safe coming in. Well the reviews are true. Dr Rasmussen was so patient, so kind and really took his time to make sure I was comfortable and informed. He also made sure I really needed a root canal which I appreciated. Highly recommend!
I would not come back here again, however, this is where the VA referred me. I have had nine root canals before this so I know what the experience is like. This time the bedside manner of the assistant and the doctor both were lacking in providing a comfortable space. Secondly, while they were doing the root canal he started right away after injecting the numbing agent saying it would take effect right away. I started feeling it so then he gave me more and immediately started work again. It seemed numb at that point until after he had drilled through the bottom of where the root is in the bottom of the root canal. It was so excruciating that I was screaming and trying to get them to stop. They kept saying "Hold still and keep your head back and breathe." I did as they said while they poured some numbing agent into the hole. I had been sobbing and crying with my mouth wedged open with some wedging device, some type of rubber cover over my mouth surrounding the tooth. With the sunglasses on, not once did anyone apologize nor allow me even a moment to wipe away my tears before they jumped right back in to finish. I have chronic pain so I'm not a wimp when it comes to pain. This was intense! It seems like Dr Rasmussen is solely focused on how fast he can perform a root canal. After completion of the root canal, he left before I could ask him what had happened. So I asked the assistant. She said, with her back to me, "You can ask the doctor when he comes back." Dr. Rasmussen came back fairly quickly. I asked him what might have happened to cause this pain suddenly during the root canal. He gave me a short answer using terminology I had no idea as to what he was talking about. I politely asked him, "Can you please explain that further? In more detail, please, because I don't understand what you said." I got a clear impression from his facial expression and the sigh he let out that he didn't want to take the time to explain to me but I must give him credit that he did then explain. He told me what happened was normal and happens often. (Again, I've had nine root canals before this and I've never had this happen.) This makes me believe he rushes to fast and that he drills through the bottom of where the root ends then exposing the nerves in the lining around the tooth where there are tons of nerves and blood vessels. This is then exposed to all seven different washes they do inside the tooth before sealing it up. After the explanation I kept asking for suction as I had a lot of saliva forming. After the 2nd time with suction, I had to continue to ask, the assistant told me to just spit into the bib on my neck. I had quite a lot! I remember looking at her like are you serious, but I didn't say anything and did as she said. Afterwards, she went "Oh" and then she took the bib off. She gave me a piece of paper at the front desk as to how much ibuprofen or acetaminophen I could take because it most likely would hurt once the numbing agent wore off because of what happened with the filler in my tooth seeping out at the end of my root. They have these sheets already printed out. Again it makes me question how often he seems to think this is normal behavior to happen during a root canal. I talked with the lady at the front desk who had forgotten to send me my reminder with the address to the appointment earlier in the day. I had to call and ask where this place was because I didn't have the address provided. I scheduled my follow-up exam. Not once did anyone tell me that there were pieces of tooth in my hairline, nor that I had white dried smudges around my mouth, when I left the office. At other offices, I've had them hand me a damp towel to wipe my face or I've had the assistant wipe away stuff for me, before I left. Not this place though. As to the quality of the dental work, I don't know. Perhaps I'll update this down the road, after I have gone back to my regular dentist who's doing the crown and talk to him about this. They could use some bedside Manner and some caring touches towards their patients.
Dr Rasmussen and staff did an outstanding job keeping me extremely comfortable. I requested Nitrous Oxide because of my High Anxiety level. It helped a lot. They were very thorough and professional in every step of my treatment. Nothing was rushed and they checked on how I was doing several times during. The numbing injections were mildly unpleasant but the pre numbing swabbing helped a lot. The anesthesia was rapid and impressive. I could not be more pleased with the treatment I received.
I had such a pleasant experience with this office. My daughter has extreme dental anxiety, and they we’re more than accommodating. They were efficient and prepared. The dentist was kind and very informative, he walked my daughter through step-by-step, which ease her anxiety. I can’t recommend this office enough!!
