Customer experiences
I’ve been hesitant to write this review, but I hope it helps others with similar needs. The staff and hygienist were kind and professional, and the hygienist was especially attentive and thorough. Unfortunately, the way my treatment was handled left me disappointed. I had a crown replaced and a wisdom tooth extracted, but I ended up seeing five or six different dentists. One took the mold, another fitted it, another shaped it, and even after my extraction, a different dentist checked the healing. The whole process felt more like an assembly line than personalized care. I felt more like a case being processed than a patient being cared for. As someone who already gets nervous at the dentist, that lack of continuity made the experience stressful. I asked to see the same dentist throughout, but that wasn’t possible. I even waited a week for an appointment, only to be called the day before and told my dentist wasn’t available. My only options were to see someone else or wait another week. Because so many different dentists were involved, I never felt like one person had the full picture of my treatment. My crown is still sensitive, and I can’t help but feel that if one dentist had overseen my care from start to finish, this might have been avoided.
I have been using this dental office for several years. The location is conveniently behind the Laurel Shopping Center where the Giant Foods is located. I was taken back withing 5 minutes of my appointment time. The office recently changed management and the new management had gone to great lengths to update the looks of the offices and to update the equipment. Today was my first visit for a dental implant. The extraction was done a couple of months ago, thus that was all healed. Today they took new x-rays. They have new x-ray machine where you stand up, put your chin on a chin rest, you head under a soft of helmet, and then the x--ray source and detectors rotate around your head. The surround x-ray was so clear that for the first time I saw a unerupted wisdom tooth that I never knew I had. They numbed me so that I didn't feel anything when the slit my gum, ground a hole into my jawbone, and screwed a hollow stud into my jaw. There will be at least two more visits to complete to implant, but we are off to a great start.
My family of 3 had appointments scheduled for routine cleanings. When I called to confirm, I was suddenly told that we could no longer all be seen on the same day despite the fact that we have always been scheduled this way in the past. Because of this unexpected change, I canceled two of the appointments and kept one, letting them know that after that visit, we would not be returning. After working a 12-hour overnight shift, I showed up for my remaining appointment only to be told it had been canceled for reasons no one could explain. I was then told a “chart audit” would need to be done to figure out why. Considering that I had just told them I wouldn’t be returning, I can’t help but feel like my appointment was canceled on purpose. I also pointed out that if I canceled without notice, I’d be charged a fee, yet when the mistake is on their end, all I get is, “We can reschedule you.” The office manager’s indifferent attitude made it even worse. The entire experience was unprofessional, inconvenient, and honestly very disappointing. I left feeling annoyed, frustrated, and completely disregarded as a patient.
I was a patient at this dental office. I called to ask how much a flipper would cost and gave him the tooth number. They insisted that I would have to make an appointment to see the dentist before they would even give me a price. This is just another way to get money from a patient for an office visit. After you pay for an office visit then they would tell you how much a flipper would cost. They took over for a previous Dentist who I thought was one of the best Dentist I’ve ever been to. I went a couple of times to see this new Dentist, but I wasn’t very happy with the staff or the Dentist, and even now when I try to get information, they wouldn’t help me. Well, to say the least I gave them a chance maybe I could’ve had the flipper done at this Office but after the response from the receptionist they can forget it. I am leaving this review for future patients to be very careful visiting this office because I think their attitude and business practices are very bad. I’m going to call the American dental Association and the better Business Bureau to file a complaint.
Smile Loft Towne Centre is a dentist.
