Self-Help allowed my dad to be exploited while he was vulnerable. They sided with the exploiter, his youngest daughter.They added her to his account after he displayed signs of dementia, they were made aware of his dementia, and he was diagnosed by a psychologist. My father never saw a dime of his retirement from the first check til he died. The exploiter has a new car. This institution was made aware and did nothing. So they may have good service but they lack in protecting their elderly customers. I was my father's guardian and SH never investigated my claims although I sent proof. He died without ever touching his pension that he earned working at the USPS for 52 years. Every business that my father dealt with reported to me that they were noticing cognitive decline. All except the financial institution that he patronized for over 20 years, maybe thirty years. Self-Help at 35th and King Drive are incompetent to serve the vulnerable population. I have proof. You all added to my father's decline and suffering by not protecting him from fraud, theft, and financial exploitation. Maybe the employees there will experience their loved ones being exploited, or it can happen to them. Then you will know firsthand how feckless you are to the vulnerable population in Chicago.

Incompetent, unprofessional, and rude. From the tellers on up. That’s the type of service you get at this and all the other Seaway locations. As you may know, the original Seaway Bank failed a few years ago and was closed by regulators, then was taken over by the Self-Help Credit Union. I had hoped the new owners would straighten out their operation, but too many of the original Seaway people remain, apparently. Well, I finally closed our last account with these ignorant losers. Should’ve done it years ago. Adios, m.f.’s

I started a few years ago with Seaway because I wanted to support Black owned businesses. About six months after I opened my account Seaway was bought out. I was annoyed/offended by the rumors that State Bank of Texas kept the Seaway Bank and Trust (SBT) sign so not to advertise the change in ownership. I went to a different black owned bank. Recently I was reviewing interest rates. I have accounts at other institutions (big popular ones). Self help pays 10 to 80 times higher interest rates than my other accounts (Chase' rates are really low). It's simply dollars and cents. The checking account doesn't matter. But seriously, savings and money market accounts need to gain what ever interest they can. Check your rates.
