Customer experiences
I've been a member of many gyms and fitness clubs over the years, but Gymit is a huge outlier. I regret not signing up earlier, despite living in the area for over a decade! The staff are super friendly at both the Brookline and Watertown locations. The facility is well maintained: the air conditioning actually works, there are plenty of lockers, and the bathrooms and locker rooms have always been clean. Another huge plus is the gym culture..the people here actually rerack their weights! My workouts primarily consist of weightlifting, so I am glad there are so many squat racks and ample deadlift space. There is also an abundance of plates, dumbbells, and machines, so I’ve had little to no waiting in between sets. The Brookline location also recently completed renovations, making the space impressively spacious. Customer service here is top notch. After visiting the Watertown location (which is also great), I noticed they had barbell jacks that made loading and unloading plates a breeze. I reached out to management about getting one for Brookline, and they said they would order some. To my surprise and excitement, just a week later, I walked toward the deadlift area and the barbell jacks were there waiting for me. Incredible! With all that said, the cost of membership is reasonable and offers great value. The 24 hour availability and hydro massage are nice perks to have, even though I haven't used them as much as I thought I would! Wishing the business continued success and prosperity!
This is the ideal work-out space. Superior cardio machines, incredible array of weight machines, free weights and benches. The strong influence of the physical trainers and an effective personalized workout plan runs strong behind the whole operation. Working with a trainer for just 5 weeks has changed my approach to exercise, my fitness level, and overall mood and health (hats off to you, Maddi!🧜‍♀️🩷). You'd never guess how busy the gym can be sometimes - the place is so clean. It's the morale and warmth and feeling among all the staff which is actually the biggest draw for me. They're my gym family.
Is it an all-star gym, no? But it has all the basics, is clean, is convenient, had an easy sign up process, offers a single month gym option for a reasonable price and were responsive to an email inquiry about sign up. They don’t supply towels, lockers with a lock (even for keys) and there’s no sauna. For the price, I think it’s worthy of 5 stars on Google.
If you actually care about your health and working out do not sign up for this gym. The only good thing about this gym are the front desk people but after that it goes to complete trash. The gyms equipment is medicore but worst of all is there trainers. Spefically the trainers Adam and Alex who will patrol the floors and get on you for not wiping down a machine to assert authority in front of their clients. This would be okay but they do this only to the select demographic of younger fit guys in a very agressive manner. Both do not visually qualify as personal trainers so it makes sense why they feel this constant need for authority but their manager Steven not only overlooks but supports this behavior. Adam has walked across an empty gym to get on my back more than once in an extremely rude manner and when I told Steven that I followed his instructions but he was extremely rude he said whatever his trainers says goes and they can essentially behave however they want since their enforcing club policy. The gym does not value its memebers and I highly recommend you take your buisness elsewhere.
