Red House Design Build is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ firm. Justin and his team worked with me and my husband Anthony on creating a 2 car garage and porch addition to our existing 1973 Cape Cod home in the East Bay. I was EXTREMELY nervous because this is my childhood home that my parents built and it was important for the addition to not look like an addition. Needless to say, I had several requirements, ideas and Red House understood them all and worked with us until we were happy with the designs. They brought my vision to a beautiful reality! Anthony and I could not be more pleased!!! Our addition is gorgeous, even better than I hoped! I highly recommend Red House Design Build. They are a professional firm providing exceptional workmanship, outstanding customer service, while always remaining customer focused. Thank you to the entire Red House Team for making our dream a magnificent reality! Red House designs well and builds beautiful! Just drive by 1090 Hope Street, Bristol and see for yourself!

We worked with Red House to tackle some substantial projects starting in early 2025. We began interviewing Design+Build firms in early 2024 and throughout the entire process the RH team was very accomodating and understanding of our many requests to meet and ask even more questions. We landed on RH because, for us, we see this as a long term relationship and we wanted to work with a firm who we felt we could trust now, and in the future. The design process was tons of fun, and once our designer "got" our aesthetic and what we wanted, she really got it! She made decision making so seamless and smooth! We lived in the house during the project and, while that can always be annoying, the experience was far more pleasant than I would have anticipated, and this is only because of the RH team! Our main carpenter communicated everything, managed coordinating with me whenever needed, and was a lovely person to get to know. The final product is PERFECTION. I can't speak highly enough of the entire team; we felt we were in the best hands possible from beginning to end. We will definitely continue any work we may have with RH. Re: costs, on the surface RH's costs seemed to be on the higher end BUT at the end of the day, I suspect the other firms had underestimated project costs. AND even if RH trends a bit more than other places, it is well worth it!

When we began to seriously consider renovating instead of moving, I did a lot of research and kept coming back to Red House. I called several references, pored over their website, and probably read every one of their blog posts. When the time came to commit, I was reasonably confident that we were working with the right partner. And (drumroll) I was right. From start to finish, Red House has exceeded our expectations. We appreciated that all involved were mindful of our goals, respectful of our budget limitations, fully invested in the design process, and, once the renovation began, committed to delivering a high-end, quality renovation. The communication was excellent, and every person on-site did amazing work; in many cases, they anticipated and addressed issues before they actually became problems. It's never easy to have people in and out of your house for 3+ months, but Red House made it as seamless as possible, and we're grateful for their commitment, insights, craftsmanship, and knowledge. We couldn't be happier with our new kitchen and mudroom, and give Red House our highest recommendation!

Our experience with Red House was deeply disappointing and frustrating from start to finish. We hired Red House for a full design-and-build renovation of our home, a major project involving most of the house. While the owner, Justin, was hands-on and responsive during the initial sales process, his involvement ended almost entirely after we signed the contract. The assigned designer was a kind person, but clearly still in training. There were consistent communication challenges, including language barriers, that led to repeated misunderstandings throughout the design phase. Let me be very clear: we were charged thousands of dollars to fix design mistakes that were not ours. Even when the design concepts were clearly flawed or poorly thought out, we bore the cost of correcting them. The project manager assigned to us was defensive and unpleasant to work with. It became increasingly obvious that Red House was more concerned with inflating costs than delivering a thoughtful or well-executed project. Although we had paid a deposit for the construction phase, the design experience was so troubling that we decided not to move forward. Incredibly, Justin, despite no construction having started and no balance owed for design, attempted to keep our $20,000 construction deposit. He only returned the funds after we involved a lawyer. We also experienced delays in receiving our own design plans, and when we finally got them, we had to rework them significantly before moving forward with another company. We ultimately built our home with a different contractor. While no build is without its challenges, the contrast in professionalism, communication, and accountability was stark. Red House represents much of what is broken in the construction and design industry. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
