Customer experiences
A Family member decided to meet here for a family meal for his 2 year olds birthday. The table was pre booked for 11 people. When we arrived the initial appearance of the place was slightly worrying, then we entered the building to find there was only 2 other people in the pub, drinking only.. However as many had travelled we decided to stay and eat here as planned. Once everybody had arrived we asked for menus only to be told they didn't have any and that the food options were written on black boards near the bar.. By 5.30pm we had placed our orders. We were still the only people ordering food in the restaurant. At 6.45 the food has still not arrived, the waitress comes out and then says they have no corn on the cob which was ordered as part of the children's meals. 5 minutes later the children's meals finally arrive! They asked for ketchup and mayo, only to be told they had run out, but the landlord was going to pop to local shop to get some. Finally the rest of the food started to appear from the kitchen.. The pork chop was 90% fat, The 'Salad' was a handful of wilted lettuce only, The baked beans were cold, hard and almost white in colour.! Myself and one other had ordered 'Flame Grilled' Chicken burger with blue cheese.. These were the last plates to leave the kitchen after waiting nearly 90 minutes in an empty restaurant.. What we received was an oven cooked chicken breast in a soggy bun. The outside of the chicken had gone hard, once I had bitten into it I realised it was pink (raw) in the middle!! As was the other burger ordered. After showing the waitress she spoke to the manager who kindly told us we would not be charged for the burgers!! Instead of the manager approaching our table and apologising for the wait, the poor service and awful food, he put all of the pressure on the young lady that was running front of house alone.. She seemed very embarrassed, upset and flustered after our time at the restaurant. We felt very sorry for the girl. Very unprofessional from the management.. So in Short. Scruffy initial appearance. Dated, dirty interior. Lack of drinks and condiments. Ridiculous waiting times. Disgusting , overpriced food. Very very poor management.. AVOID !!!
Ben and his team provided us with the venue and catering for a wake. From start to finish they were kind and considerate going to great lengths to provide the specification we had requested. The scones jam and cream were delicious. The sandwiches were both delicious and plentiful and well received by all. Highly recommended.
Not even busy and canāt handle a few tables. When we were finally given permission to go up for carvery, it was missing multiple things on the carvery to go with the meat etc, we had to stand there and wait 20 minutes for a couple of chicken legs. Portion sizes on the lamb were poor too. Service was awful, needs more staff the poor guy was having to do it all on his own including restocking the carvery whilst trying to serve multiple people on his own!! Quality of the food was nice when you finally got your food. Heard another couple complaining about the wait for food to just have back āoh but apart from that was it okā Nobody cared whatsoever for the poor service. Would not return.
So glad we found this place, country pub vibes with a cosy fire, kind and welcoming staff and absolutely fantastic home cooked food! Picture attached is of the macaroni cheese and garlic bread I had, it was incredible, gutted we live so far away so we canāt make this pub our new regular! It also has an impressive beer garden so would also be great to visit in the summer. Highly recommend āļøāļøāļøāļøāļøāļø
