I had an extremely frustrating experience with R&J Trucking that I feel compelled to share. Recently, I was driving on Route 16 around Newark, OH, when I encountered two of their dump trucks. One of the trucks switched lanes and pulled out right in front of me, so I made sure to slow down and keep plenty of space between us. Shortly after, the truck hit a bump in the road, and dirt debris came out from the bottom of the tailgate, followed by rocks. I had left a safe distance for this reason, but unfortunately, one of the rocks hit my windshield, leaving a crack that looks like a bullet hole. I immediately gathered the company's information, including the truck number and license plate, and called R&J Trucking. I could not get ahold of anyone in their Safety department, so I left a message. Someone eventually called back but completely disregarded what I said about the incident. He insisted that the truck was hauling dirt to a landfill, and there's no way a rock could have caused the damage. While I understand that accidents can happen, I made it clear that I was only seeking resolution, not to cause trouble. I also mentioned that if the rock had come from the road, I would have just filed an insurance claim without any issues. However, I was confident it was from their truck. The person on the phone assured me that someone would look into it and get back to me. This was last Tuesday. It's now Monday, and I haven't heard anything back. In the meantime, my insurance advised me to file a police report, which I did, and I also got a quote from Safelite to repair the windshield to prevent further damage. I called R&J Trucking again to update them on the police report and the quote, and thankfully, I spoke to a more pleasant individual named Lee. He was very kind and took down all the information. He agreed that dirt going to a landfill isn’t sifted, and it’s not unreasonable to think a rock could come from the truck, unlike the previous person I spoke to who made it seem like I was overreacting. Unfortunately, since then, I have not heard a word from the company. This entire experience has been nothing short of frustrating and unprofessional. I am now out over $287 for damage that wasn’t my fault, and the complete lack of follow-up or accountability from R&J Trucking is unacceptable. I would not recommend this company to anyone based on the way they have handled this situation.

Please say something to the driver of this truck. Didn't care to park like a professional truck driver, no care for others property or the representation of the company. Truck # is in pictures 129107

R&J is fantastic. They are very prompt, and the drivers are all very professional. I've had them fill orders for hundreds of tons of stone the same day.

Was on I- 80 this am and R and J dump truck threw up a stone and cracked my windshield. Truck driver was talking on phone and could not get his attention. When I called company from info obtained on door they were not helpful and told me go through my own insurance company . I gave lady exact time and location and driver description and she said unless I had truck # she could not confirm it was their driver. Nice way to avoid responsibility.
