Customer experiences
Horrendous. I went in as a walk-in as they proudly advertise them out front. I walked in and all three barber were at the back and didn't even greet me, just waited for me to talk. Felt weird but I don't like to assume so just continued on. The barber who I got was already giving an attitude before I sat down, giving the impression that I was in the way for even showing up on his "down" time. I sat down and had turned my music off but had forgotten to take out my earphones. He told me to take them off and I apologized multiples times, not realizing I had them on. He said nothing. He then was pissed because my hair wasn't "brushed". I said I hadn't had time. I was also explaining I hadn't gotten a haircut in while as I had just moved back to the city and had been busy. He then muttered "Too busy to brush your hair?" Now if me haven't had brushed my hair that day was such a problem, he could have explained it calmly or said something in a respectful manner, and honestly I would have apologized and probably offered to try to come back later since I don't like confrontation. (Though I've never had a problem with a barber complaining about unbrushed hair. At most I'd get them joking that I have super thick hair, which I do). But he just continued on with a stank face. Then I asked if there was a problem. And he was like "yeah you didn't brush your hair." At this point I said I'd like to leave. He said "No don't." and I told him I don't want to stay because of his attitude. He then said "what attitude?" Never had to deal with a barber like this, it was insane. I'm sorry I'm not about to pay upwards of $50 to be disrespected like that, and I suggest you don't either.
I’ve been going to Queen West Barber consistently and the haircuts are always on point. Mario is my barber and he gives the best fade and always listens to what I want. Even when I switch things up, he pays attention to the details and makes sure it comes out right. He puts in 110% effort every time. He’s also a funny, personable guy... which makes the whole experience enjoyable. Solid cuts every visit! Best barber in Toronto. 10/10
Have had good experiences with Mario. He was busy today so I went to Luis. When I explained what I wanted he didn't appear to be listening much and kind of just nodded and said sure. I had a long wavy off-middle part going on and just wanted to clean it up and blend the sides with a low fade. Luis proceeded to take the clippers out and go to town on the sides, taking it all the way down to what looks like a 1.5-2 near the top. The fade he did was nice and I could tell he took his time. Unfortunately this was not what I was asking for and I was upset because I spent a few months growing out the sides. At the end I asked if I could use product and style it, he said sure then put a bunch of wax in my hair and tried to do it himself, again not listening to my request. This is not the type of product I use in my hair, he didn't ask what I prefer before putting it in. If you have short hair and need a fade, I'm sure Luis is plenty capable. If you have medium to longer hair I'd go to one of the others. When I pay $50 for a haircut I expect better service. I can get similar treatment for half the price.
DO NOT GO HERE, Mario has consistently given me the worst haircuts of my life. He seems to always cut it way too short, goes way to quick, and never seems to ever actually give me what I ask for. It seems like he genuinely forgets what I show him and decides he shouldn't ask about it again. Worst barber ever
Queen West Barbers is a barber shop.
