I was strongly referred to Birmingham Chiropractic, and in particular Joel Kirsch, over a decade ago when I suffered an extruded disk and a colleague of mine saw that I was in need of serious, expert help and sent me his way. Over the five-month period that I worked through endless PT and struggled through every possible solution to become functional again, it was ultimately Dr. Joel that guided, educated, and eventually brought me, at last, to a pain-free existence again. Since then I have relied on Birmingham Chiropractic to help me so many times, I can hardly account for them all: when I was suffering from TMJ and was having migraines and neck pain, when my knee went out and I couldn’t hardly walk, when I needed the professional nudge to get shoulder surgery for a separated A.C. - and during the therapy that followed, when I had tennis elbow so bad I couldn’t touch it, when I needed the right exercises to improve the pain from arthritis in my wrists, thumbs, when I needed the right referral and treatment for my plantars fasciitis– every one of these possibly derailing injuries or illnesses mitigated by the knowledge of, or cured by the adept hands of Dr. Joel Kirsch. In between my many major injuries and ailments, I have come into his office a hundred other times, simply to have my spine and neck set right, and so that I can be my best self. Which he has so often helped me to be. Beyond his acumen his table-side manner is nothing short of enjoyable as he is always happily conversational and unfailingly interested in what is happening in his client’s lives. He studies often in Prague and internationally, and speaks at and attends countless conventions frequently making sure he is always at the cresting edge of his profession. His passion and understanding of the human body, how it functions, and how it can be healed are simply staggering. He absorbs, learns, and shares his craft with such joy and skill, as a teacher, I truly appreciate observing his obsession and passion for his craft. Presently, and I tell you this sincerely, that I trust Dr. Joel first and foremost when it comes to nearly every one of my health-based decisions, and I often confer with him first, even before my own home care physician or the specialists I frequent, before I make decisions about my body. If trust is earned then he and the office of Birmingham Chiropractic has indeed earned mine two-dozen times over. The office climate and his staff are so exceedingly warm and professional, and the care and concern that come with the treatment is present in every visit. Make room for six out of five stars.

I am so glad to have found someone who actually listens and adjust you accordingly. Previously they would continue doing the same adjustment for anything you asked for. But, Dr. Totten listens, and ask questions. The numbness in my shoulder blade is gone, now we are working on the rest. Over all I feel 80 percent better. I am grateful to have found him. The office staff is 100. They are very nice, and helpful, AND they smile!
