My husband and I went to Polaris Counseling during the summer of 2025. I felt that it was needed to bring life back into our marriage after I had experienced the tragic passing of my younger brother. Our therapist was James Smithers. James was a wonderful therapist. He made both my husband and I feel comfortable and at ease. There were not any times that my husband and I felt turned against each other or that he was taking one person's side over another's. James sincerely wanted to help my husband and I understand where the other person was coming from. My husband and I were able to walk away with some practical tools, tips and awareness that we have implemented. Meeting with James has helped my husband and I continue on our marriage path in a positive direction. We are expectant to grow and have fun again! Thank you very much!

A referral sent us to Polaris and there we were lucky enough to find Emily Sliwa. We first used Emily for family counseling. Our visits were virtual, which I loved because of busy schedules. Emily is approachable and authentic, and her sessions are meaningful. Later, we switched our daughter's personal counselor to Emily because she was able to nudge her to recognize and address the source and triggers of her anxiety, while also giving her strategies. Equally important, Emily is flexible in her scheduling, offering many evening and weekend options. It's easy to forget that Emily works for Polaris because, for my family, she is the face of the therapy that we rely on.

Disappointed. My husband and I came here for couples counseling. Counselor was nice but just rephrased our words into her own. Its great that she understood what we were sharing but felt like we weren’t getting any direction, tools, challenges, or opportunities to truly discuss any issues we were dealing with. We continued to see her weekly to “give it a shot” but just felt like we were wasting money. We left Polaris for about 6-7 months and recently called to come back since it’s a convenient location for us and we know they have several other therapist. Amy was pleasant but brushed me off when i shared my interest in us coming back with a different therapist. Made comments like “well, i really don’t even know what availability we even have or when we could get you in.” It felt as though they didn’t want new business. I shared for the right therapist who has experience in marriage counseling, we would be willing to try and make ANY times work. Still rambled and could not give me an available time or a therapist suggestion. I even went ahead and shared the three therapists whose profiles interested me online and still nothing. Guess they’re all booked and none of their therapists have availability… Update to owners response: thank you for the response but feels like you aren’t seeking to understand the situation. We were NOT given any options to be placed on a waitlist. We pretty much were told no availability with any of your therapists (other than the one we had) - although we provided Amy a 7-days a week, all day open availability. The only therapist who had availability was the one we shared we did not want to see again. I’m sure Amy is great - but I’m telling you a firsthand we were given no options with any therapist and no waitlist option.

I never thought I would need a therapist at this point in my life. Thank goodness I found Polaris. The first phone call to their office was with Amy, office manager. She was so professional and courteous and quickly made an appointment with a therapist. James was terrific. His attention was undivided as he listened to why I was there, offered solutions, and took the time to work with me on regaining my self-worth. If I ever need a therapist again, Polaris will be my first call.
