In May 2023, I had an extremely disturbing experience at Phils. After having a bit too much to drink and JUST THROWING UP(in the washroom) security asked me to leave—I was fully compliant. One guard said I had to go purely based on my appearance. I calmly said I just needed to grab my keys from my girlfriend, turned away for about two seconds, and was then body-slammed into the stairs by security. This escalation was completely unjustified and is on camera if they haven't corruptly deleted it. I was banned for one week. When I returned another time at random, I was racially profiled for another person. After multiple failed attempts to resolve this with Phils/security, I anonymously contacted the AGCO and simply asked them to review the footage and advise security to be more professional—nothing more not even legal action. After that, Phils tracked and stalked my identity which is CREEPY (not possible to have gotten my identity from camera footage) and later banned me for life, seemingly in retaliation for reporting the incident which is against the law. I’m not afraid to post this my main account—they already know who I am. I’m sharing this so others are aware of how poorly serious incidents are handled here. Another thing I'd like to mention is that I was accused of trying to take legal action when asked why I was banned for life, not a single one of my emails mentions anything threatening towards those actions and there is proof, and they are extremely lucky I don't have the effort to take legal action now. High rating so people know how terrible it can be here for escalation of a minor convenience.

Phil’s has come a long way since post-COVID reopening. This was my first time here in a while and the bartenders were absolute sweethearts. The Retro Sunday DJ was also fabulous, spinning epic mixes and keeping the energy going throughout the night. I’ll definitely be back. No more sticky floors!!!

This is the first time I come to this place, and all I found was disturbance. On top of that, the hall is very small and the atmosphere is unpleasant. Note: I only gave one star in order to be able to write the review, even though the place does not deserve it

Noble Jacob

Packed up place with hotshot dance floor with I believe the best pitcher that I've had in a long time. The DJ and the music just makes you dive in. Don't miss Phil's if you're here in Waterloo!
