Took my Volvo V40 to Ellis Auto and Electrical after another garage couldn’t properly diagnose an electrical fault and I’m so glad I did. They carried out a thorough investigation and correctly found the issue. Josh was great, explained everything clearly and worked with me to find the most cost-effective solution without pushing unnecessary work. I couldn’t be happier with the service I received. A rare to find, a garage that’s both highly knowledgeable and honest. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, especially for electrical and fault-finding.
Got my Car MOT'd and Serviced here and I couldn't be happier. The MOT failed on a tyre but Dom replaced the Tyre and got it MOT'd again same day to which it passed. Could not be more thankful for the amazing service.
I was approached by Ellis Auto & Electrical after I put a post on a local page looking for someone to remap my 2022 BMW M340i and for a custom exhaust. I have tried previously to get it remapped before with a few companies but have been told they cannot map the car due to the ECU being locked. They told me they could map it despite this so I had high hopes. I opted for a service on the car before the map to make sure everything's up to scratch. I also wanted a custom exhaust put on the car. I was told a 3rd party would do this who they work with and he has been to take measurements during the service. I was told the wait would be 3ish months due to the guy being in demand. This company are a BMW specialist which I was told. The service was done, the measurements were taken and I was told to collect the car but the remap hadn't been done because the car was a mild hybrid. I'm questioning this as I've been told previously by other companies it's due to the locks on the ECU, nothing to do with being a hybrid. Every petrol model of the M340i is a mild hybrid which i would have thought they'd have known being BMW specialists, but I appreciate that they tried the remap and that's not the reason specifically why i wouldn't recommend them. I picked up the car, with the service lights still on as they hadn't been reset. I didn't take the car back as my dad could reset the lights, no problem these things happen. Note that I wasn't due a service for a while at this point, but wanted the car to be in an optimal position for the remap and exhaust so on their recommendation, I purchased a service. I messaged yesterday (now August, 5 months on from the measurements taken which I was also quoted for at the time of £2000) to be told that my car would not be getting an exhaust due to the guy sadly falling ill. I understand these things happen, my complaint isn't with the exhaust guy. I have been eagerly waiting for 5 months, thinking I was being bumped up the list for an exhaust. I didn't receive any communication from Ellis Auto to say I wouldn't be getting the exhaust anymore. If someone would have messaged me just to let me know I could have gone elsewhere. Essentially it was all a waste of time. No remap (again, this isn't their fault I'm just building a picture,) a service which I only got for the purpose of the remap and exhaust which left lights on, no exhaust, and no communication to let me know the work wouldn't be completed. I get things happen, I just feel disappointed. This company approached me to help me, and aside from a service with a light left on, it was all sadly a waste of time. I get things happen out of peoples control, just a simple message to let me know would have been nice. I was told the guy sadly fell ill 4 weeks ago, and I had the measurements taken in march. I think it's probably a cause of me being forgotten about, and now the guy is sadly poorly the car can't get done at all. Sadly wouldn't recommend. It looks as if this place has glowing reviews so hopefully my case was just a one off.
We were recommend Josh as a BMW specialist after my 1 series broke down. First garage that I was recovered to could not find a fault. Josh came to my home and quickly found the fault on my car, showed me photos and gave me an idea of cost and how long it would take to fix. We were booked in and the car was fixed earlier than expected at a fair price. Josh was professional and prompt with communicating. We even collected the car at 7pm one evening around our work commitments. I will be using Josh for future services on my car and any repairs and would highly recommend. Thank you Josh.
