Involved in a very nasty divorce. Retained this attorney and basically got nothing but a giant bill. I could have just filed for divorce on my own but did not want to get screwed over by my ex financially. If I had known how worthless an attorney would be in this situation, I never would have hired one. When I retained my attorney, they never advised that there was nothing they could do even if my ex signed any agreement to pay. Attorney insisted they told me the could not force my ex to pay on the home we were leasing. He signed the agreement and refused to pay and there was nothing to be done. Ex refused to communicate with me and only communicate with my attorney so every time she spoke with him it was $50-$100 that I got billed. Never met with my attorney in person until she decided to quit my case and she cornered me in a room with another attorney or assistant person and told me she told me that she couldn’t make him pay his half of the rent which I am positive she never did. Otherwise I would have just dropped their services and filed by myself. Also, the final divorce documents have incorrect information in them, things that we discussed multiple times, but since everything was over the phone or online, and I was frustrated and dealing with chemo side effects, I didn’t notice them until after the documents were filed. All in all, the whole thing felt rushed and confusing and it was obvious she did not care about the fact that I was going through a divorce and fighting cancer. She should have told me there was not much she could do when I retained her services. I also feel like she had a lot of sympathy for my EX, who was having an affair and left after I got diagnosed with cancer and left me to pay all of the financial obligations we incurred TOGETHER. I feel completely ripped off.
