Customer experiences
I had the pleasure of working with Carly at Northern Law Firm, and I can’t say enough about how supportive and validating she was throughout a really challenging time. While the firm wasn't able to assist with every aspect of my situation, Carly took the time to truly listen, offer guidance, and point me in the right direction. Her professionalism, compassion, and clarity gave me the confidence to keep moving forward. I’m incredibly grateful for the help I received and highly recommend Northern Law Firm to anyone seeking thoughtful, client-focused legal support
Extremely Disappointing Experience – Lack of Transparency and Professionalism I retained Northern Law in Sudbury based on the reputation of one of the senior partners, Jordan Duplessis, expecting his direct involvement or at least occasional oversight in my case. Unfortunately, that never happened. From the start, I was misled. Every time I called for Mr. Duplessis, I was referred to his associate Carly Harris, who ended up handling everything as if she were the one I retained. He never returned my calls or followed up personally Things got so frustrating that I had to physically go to the office just to get a face-to-face meeting with him and Carly. When I hired the firm, Mr. Duplessis told me the cost for three court mediations would be $5,000, and we would discuss additional fees only if the case dragged on. The matter concluded after two court dates, yet months later I was blindsided with a bill for thousands more. Under holiday stress and pressure, I was forced to settle the amount for a couple thousand less than the inflated bill—just to put it behind me. If I had wanted my case handled by an associate, I would have paid associate rates—not partner fees. The entire process felt like a bait-and-switch. While Ms. Harris was polite and tried to help, the lack of transparency, poor communication, and the complete absence of the lawyer I hired left me feeling misled and taken advantage of. Legal matters are stressful enough without having to chase your own lawyer for updates and clarity. I sincerely hope this firm improves how it communicates with clients—especially when it comes to who will actually handle the case and what the final costs will be. If you’re expecting hands-on attention from a named partner, I suggest looking elsewhere.
Northern Law was easy to deal with. We needed a Power of Attorney done up for my mother and unfortunately none of her children live in Sudbury. With a little back and forth through email and a phone call we got it all straightened away. Julie was extremely pleasant and helpful. You could tell she really understood our situation and wanted to help. We had a family friend take my mom in to sign the paper work and as soon as everything was done, I received an email copy. I highly recommend them!
Great experience with Northern Law, the whole process was smooth and welcoming, and Bhishm Khanna gave clear, practical, and supportive advice.
