We spent US$3,500 on a brand concept, designs, photoshoots, and a 2/6-month promised activation, plus another US$6,500 allocated for campaigns and launching operations—all essentially wasted. The execution was a complete failure. I'm extremely disappointed with Start Friday's performance as our marketing agency. Here are the key issues: 1. Poor Social Media Performance: Reach, engagement, and follower growth flatlined. There's been no significant improvement, indicating their ineffective social media strategies. 2. Uninspiring Content: Their content lacked strategy and inspiration, and it failed to evoke emotion in our target audience. Product photos didn't represent the products well and weren't appealing. 3. Lack of Attention to Details: Numerous errors were found in their content (including mismatched captions & images, posting the same thing twice in a row, and grammatical errors). There was no content-pillar and we didn’t get to review nor revise their works. 4. Ignoring Client Feedback: Our input as the business owner was almost completely disregarded. Communication was one-sided, and they were often defensive. 5. No Ad Activity: Paid advertising, a crucial part of digital marketing, was never implemented. 6. Unclear Strategy: Essential aspects like STP and KPIs were never clearly defined. Their strategy felt haphazard with no clear objectives. They offered many excuses to disguise their underperformance. 7. Budget Mismanagement: They wasted our budget on ineffective knickknacks, such as 8-hour daily livestreams with no significant results, neglected marketplace optimization, and incurred unnecessary expenses (booths, uniforms, etc.) that had no positive impact on digital marketing. 8. Breach of contract: The contract stipulated monthly reports, but I only received one report in six months. Except for pretty pictures on Instagram and their advice to use the marketplace features, they didn’t deliver much. We hired them to save time and money, gain a fresh creative approach, and drive sales—like marketing an "iPhone" as a lifestyle, not just a smartphone. Instead, we didn't see anything new with their narratives—compared to what we'd already done before we hired them. If you're considering hiring them, demand for clear KPIs, measurable goals, and a detailed strategy timeline beforehand. Our experience was met with excuses like "many factors contribute to the brand growth," "we're still learning about this niche," and "brand awareness can't be measured by sales," while they refused to acknowledge their own shortcomings. In conclusion, SF failed to deliver results commensurate with the investment. I feel I wasted significant time and money working with them. They didn’t make sales; they made excuses!
