Motel 6 Catonsville, MD – Baltimore West

This hotel was once a fine establishment. It was never a 4 Star hotel but was clean and budget friendly. My most recent 25 night stay ended after one night. The room had an oder that could only described as body odor... As if someone worked in the summer heat and went to bed without showering, for at least 6 months. Then there's the "air conditioning" that never was. Only the fan worked; no "AC". Then there were the stains on the bed, the bathroom that looked like is had been smoked in for 20 years... The overall experience felt dirty amd not a "Home Away From Home". The final nail in the coffin was when I awoke ar 2 am, to used the bathroom and was greeted by a German Cockroach that scurried under the door, saw the light and scurried back out. This establishment is NOT recommended by me, regardless of their enticing daily rate. Pay the extra money and stay in a clean room.

Checked in for what was supposed to be a quick overnight rest, but this place made that almost impossible. We had booked a non-smoking room and were given one that reeked of smoke, with a shattered window and glass still in the frame. The front desk staff was kind and quickly moved us to a different room, which didn’t smell like smoke — but only because it had clearly been doused in chlorine. It was so humid that the air felt like you were sleeping in a swimming pool. The whole place felt more like a rundown apartment complex than a hotel, with lots of people living there long-term. Kids were running around and playing loudly until midnight — nothing against them, but don’t expect peace and quiet. The towels had obvious stains and looked reused, just folded again. The comforter had a huge burn hole and more stains than I want to think about. We ended up leaving around 5 a.m. after getting the bare minimum of rest just to make it to our destination. Even checkout involved waking up the front desk clerk, though to their credit, they were still polite and helpful. The staff is doing their best, but this place needs serious work. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

This was the worst hotel experience of my life. The room was filthy — the floor was coated in grime, and there were blood stains on the bedding, lamp, and wall. I had to buy cleaning supplies and even a tarp and blanket just to be able to sleep. Housekeeping only changed sheets and ran a dirty mop, leaving the room unsanitary. The property itself was unsafe. I witnessed drug activity in the parking lot, nightly parties, off-leash dogs (with no health records required), and even a physical fight outside. Both I and my service dog became sick from staying here. I developed a respiratory infection, and my dog contracted pneumonia that required veterinary care. Weeks later, he is still recovering. Priceline refused to cancel or move my reservation despite these conditions. This stay ruined my visit with my children and left me with medical and veterinary bills. ⚠️ I strongly warn others: do not stay at this Red Roof Inn.
