I found this clinic in 2014 when my Shih Tzu had a severe eye infection. Every Toronto vet wanted to remove his eyes, but this team treated him and saved them! He recovered in a week, and their prices were so reasonable. After 14 wonderful years, he was laid to rest here. Now they care for my new puppy, who recently got very sick. After spending almost $1,000 at two Toronto vets, I called this clinic again in tears. Alex was incredible! He listened, calmed me down, and booked me in right away. He guided me through every step until my visit. Their honesty means everything, and their prices are very reasonable. I’m so grateful for Alex! they’re the only vets I truly trust!
We had to say goodbye to our sweet Venus because of East Mountain Animal Hospital’s negligence. We originally brought her in for a simple ear infection, and just one week later we were forced to put her down. After 7 years of trusting them with our girl—and paying them thousands of dollars—we learned the hard way that they care more about money than pets. They prescribed medication that only made her worse, and when my mom called in desperation the day we had to put her to sleep, instead of showing compassion, they told her she would have to wait an hour or pay $180 just to be seen. They suggested keeping her sedated for testing, even though at that point she was crying and clearly suffering—it was cruel and heartless. My mom had to make the hardest decision of her life, and even then, the vets changed their story and admitted she was in very bad shape. The most appalling moment was during the euthanasia itself. While our baby was being put to sleep, before she was even gone, they brought in the card reader and asked my mom to pay. No decency, no compassion—just the bill. This place should not be in business, let alone trusted to care for beloved pets. If you truly love your animals, please, I beg you, go anywhere else.
Nothing but great things to say about the vets office and staff. Everyone is so helpful, always someone to answer your questions and the hours are the best. Always accommodating for my dog who hates going and doesn’t do well with other dogs. Couldn’t recommend them enough to anyone.
This is not an easy review to write, but I feel it’s important to share what happened so other pet owners know what to expect. Losing my French Bulldog, Venus, was heartbreaking—and the way East Mountain Animal Hospital handled her final moments made it even worse. My French Bulldog, Venus, was in severe distress and dying, but instead of compassion or urgency, the focus felt like money above care. They had previously prescribed medications and said she had an ear infection, but her condition only worsened. The medication declined her rapidly, and she was never the same. I honestly feel like she was given medication for profit rather than for her health. When I called the doctor during the week asking for pain medication, he gave her steroids instead. He was dismissive, even though Venus was walking in circles, hitting her head against walls, and clearly suffering. On Saturday the 13th, I called to say she was dying. They told me to bring her in at 7:30—even though it was only 6:30 and she was crying in pain. When I asked to come sooner, I was told I’d need to pay an “emergency fee” of $180. I said I didn’t care about the money—I just wanted her helped. When we arrived, we were left waiting while Venus cried in the back. No updates, no comfort, no urgency. Eventually, the vet gave us two “options”: sedation and extensive (and very expensive) testing, or euthanasia. At that point, I knew she had to be put down. Instead of compassion, the process felt cold, transactional, and dismissive. We were placed in a sterile, unwelcoming room with a couple of papers about pet loss and a worn-out couch—not a space for comfort. A staff member pointed us to a bookcase to “choose something” for her ashes, then immediately returned with a card reader requesting $1000 upfront before anything else. We weren’t even given an itemized bill, this happening while our dog was dying. It was devastating to be asked for payment in that moment instead of receiving care, support, or even basic empathy. After being a client here for 7 years—without ever seeing the same vet twice—I will never return. My heart is broken. If you truly love your animals, I strongly recommend you do not take them here. Venus deserved so much better. She was the sweetest soul, and she will always be deeply loved and remembered.
