I’m really disappointed with how poorly this Premier owned MercyOne location has been maintained. The clinic was physically dirty and dingy. It didn’t feel like a clean or professional medical environment at all. Most of the staff weren’t wearing name tags, including the person I assume was a Medical Assistant and even the doctor. After waiting over an hour, the doctor finally came in but barely spent any time with us. It felt rushed and dismissive. If you need to go to one of the Premier-owned urgent cares, I highly recommend skipping this location and heading to the one in Ankeny instead. It’s a completely different, much better experience.

I was treated with the upmost urgency and care coming in with a very low heart beat. I was sent to the ER and the next day received a pacemaker. Office staff at this Urgent Care responsed quickly alerting the doctor. Doctor and attending nurse found the problem on an EKG and expressed the urgency I go to the ER. I declined my need for an ambulance transfer, so, I was advised to head for the Mercy West ER with NO stops along the way. I feel very grateful for their concern, expertise and care. I would not hesitate going there again if I found myself needing to. I owe them much Thanks...

Made an appointment online for 4pm, walked In and told the woman at the desk I had an appointment, she turned to the woman behind me and snapped “we need to shut down appointments!” I waited over an hour past my appointment time to be seen. The provider wanted me to start medication that night, so she found an open pharmacy and told me she’d have the prescription there in five minutes. I drove to that pharmacy and waited until they closed, no prescription was ever sent over. The urgent care center was already closed before I was even seen, so I couldn’t get anyone on the phone. I drove back there after the pharmacy closed, met a nurse in the parking lot who told me she would call it into my local pharmacy first thing in the morning. She didn’t. I called the pharmacy where I had waited the night before, and they still didn’t have it either. I finally got someone on the phone at Mercy, and they called my prescription in. Overall a pretty lousy experience.

Positive: The doctor was pretty knowledgeable and I did get in there quickly. Check in was pretty smooth Negative: The hospital could use some updating. But that is not the staffs fault at all. More of a funding and investment issue. The majority of the people I encountered were extremely gloomy. They were not rude however I personally felt I was an inconvenience for them the entire time. I would honestly say their bedside manner is terrible. I mean I was in a decent amount of pain due to my ongoing medical issue. It felt like I was talking to a robot the whole time prior to seeing a doctor. I totally understand they are probably burnt out. However this is the medical field, you are going to see people when they are having a rough go with their health. The need to feel a little more up lifted. Not feel more like an inconvenience than they probably already do. The people I see prior to the doctor I think need to work on being more friendly and Caring towards the patient. Not coming off like they are there just for the paycheck and we are just another body they have to deal with. Overall: Doctor was good to work with, he was actually a breath of fresh air almost. The two ladies prior need to work on compassion and bedside manner.
