Dr Tusik was the best surgeon. I was blessed to have him solve my problem. Had broken right upper arm. The orthopedic surgeon I originally saw. Said the surgery was risky. That i would most likely have complications; a dead hand from nerve damage. I hoped the break would fuse together naturally. It did not.. and was in constant chronic pain for six months. My lower arm was not connected to upper arm bone. Had no use of arm. A different ortho surgeon referred me to trauma center at Nebraska med and that got me to this young msn. Who had special training in this kind of difficult surgery. He and his team were able to get me in for surgery with in a week. I am now over six weeks post op. No numbness; can use my hand. And arm. And no more pain!! It is such a relief. My arm was screwed back together. What a relief. The doctor seemed rather matter of fact about surgery and outcome. But after learning problems and risks. He is too modest. Regarding the The anesthesiologis. He took the time to visit sith me and address my concerns w anesthesia due to pulmonary issues. After surgery he gave me a regional block and that kept pain away almost a day and a half. The Lauritsen ortho surgery building must be brand new. It us convenient! A bustling place. It is State of the state. New, clean, modern. That was reassuring. I am grateful to all the nursing staff and front desk. They seem well trained. And knew the drill so to speak. I will post some pictures.you will see what looks like a foot of steel rebar and several steel concrete anchors and counter some sunk flush flat head steel screws. You construction guys would know. I was fortunate to have Dr T restore my arm. So i could get back in the stream of life and work. And for that after six months of pain i am thoroughly grateful and thankful.

If I could give a zero, I would. My family member saw Dr. Sean McGarry, in March, where he said he could complete a surgery. She had imaging done around the same time. She hadn't heard anything by July. Around the 1st of July. she attempted to call and said they'd get back to here. Another week went by, and nothing, she called back, heard the same thing. Again, another two weeks go by nothing. Finally, she received a call back NOT from the surgeon and was told the doctor wasn't going to do it. So, instead of notifying her right away so she can start finding another provider, she suffered in extreme pain and hopelessness. For a woman who dedicated her life to taking care of others as a nurse, this is completely shameful. These are people's lives you are dealing with, and I've never been so disappointed in Nebraska Med.

I came here and they downplayed my pain, anyway after asking/begging more than several times my doctor, doctor Tomesch to do a physical test and not look at just the x ray...he did some relaxation and flexing of my foot, leg and knee which surprisingly after about an hour took away pain I've had for months and my leg is angled differently but no pain...my swelling went even if they said there was no swelling, my foot and leg were not hot anymore even though they said there is only a slight difference in temperature(they didn't record it), I can go up a flight of stairs now instead of stopping at 4 steps...not only that I burped for four hours the next day non stop and my pain in my upper chest went away...as a doctor some things are obvious to you but not obvious to the patient...however my symptoms were not recorded... didn't take basic vitals...which every hospital does even for a cough...asked me my weight instead of weighing me...forgot to take my temperature, I had to ask them for left side and right side temperature because they were different...I was wheezing while talking yet my lungs were not checked also my x-ray had no name, date of birth on the imaging or the date, how can I tell that's my leg we are looking at, yes he helped me but if I was not persistent I would come back with the same pain

My wife broke her leg in late February. She was transported by ambulance to Nebraska Med where she received excellent care. The Orthopedic staff carefully and quickly assessed her condition and scheduled her for surgery the next day. Thanks to Dr. Putnam and the entire team for your care and compassion.
