I started going to Melissa during the third trimester with my second child and was incredibly impressed with her! Her office is beautiful. She features local artists and has a nice assortment of plants, so it's like stepping into the happy medium between a gallery and botanical garden. Melissa is friendly and knowledgable. Melissa is able to take what you tell her about how you're currently feeling, work, daily routines, etc and combine that with what she is able to read in your body to provide a massage that not only helps you relax but also treats any aches and pains you may have to a degree I've never experienced at any of the other massage offices/spas in the area. Every one of my sessions included a brief conversation about areas where I wasn't at my best and suggestions to help which was a godsend considering I was pregnant. There are plenty of places in the area that you can go to that give you the "spa atmosphere" and a generic massage. If you're after something like that with ultra dim lighting and little water fountains in all the rooms, then you may not enjoy Melissa's office as much. However, if you're looking for a massage that goes beyond the 30-90 minutes of relaxation and want an actual therapeutic experience, then Massage Iowa is the first place in the area to call. Melissa also has the coolest tables I've ever seen. When I went to her for prenatal massage, I was expecting to be propped on pillows to accommodate my baby bump. Her tables actually have multiple sections. Some or all of the sections can be removed to accommodate your stomach and/or chest which means whether you're pregnant, had a really big lunch, sturdily built, or any combination thereof she can adjust the table so you can comfortably lay on your stomach. She offers packages for extra savings. You can purchase a block of appointments. She offers the packages in a few different durations, and you can double up on your packaged appointments if you want to have a longer session occasionally. For example, if you do the 30-minute session bundle, you can do back-to-back sessions if you want to have an hour at some point.
