Customer experiences
We were greeted immediately by the host when we first got in. Seated and the waiter came In and explained the features and such. Super friendly staff and very efficient. Got out order right and on top of our drinks. He had an Italian accent or something. The food was delicious. We ordered the chicken Parmesan with penne and the pork tenderloin. My only complaint was it didn’t smell good when we first walked in. Not sure if the AC wasn’t on or something. Then I was fine after.
If you want authentic Neapolitan pizza, this is the place! The dough here was absolutely perfect. When I lived in Turin, Italy, I had countless Neapolitan-style pizzas, and my all-time favorite was "Salsiccia e Friarielli". I personally only go for oil-based Bianca pizza. This time I ordered the Tartufo Funghi e Salsiccia, and next time I’ll be trying the Rustica. I was also impressed that they offer proper chili oil—not just chili flakes or Tabasco. The tiramisu was another highlight: simple, authentic, and free of unnecessary extras. The floor staff did seem a bit busy and stretched at times, but the Italian staff who looked after us was attentive, warm, and made the whole experience delightful. Even my partner, who usually isn’t fond of any oily dishes, really enjoyed my pizza here! There’s a clear difference between how oil is used in North America versus in Italy (the Mediterranean), and I’m glad he could appreciate authentic Italian flavors.
I hate to give a poor review to a local restaurant, and feel bad for the one star to service (especially because the staff were very kind). However, the wait was extremely lengthy. We were seated very slowly even though we had made a reservation but that wasn't a huge deal. Our table had a ton of what looked like bread crumbs that wasn't cleaned properly. But again, not a huge deal since we were seated at a table for 4 but we only had 2 of us so we just moved over. We went for their Sunday pasta special and thankfully it wasn't busy. However it took one hour for our appetizers to arrive and then another hour from that for our entree to arrive. The staff were young and kind. However, the kitchen being this slow despite us being surrounded with empty tables was disappointing. The food was also disappointing and not something we would wait over 2 hours for. The pasta tasted soggy and were in clumps, we figured it may have been sitting out for a little while. The sauces were also very salty, to the point that it was difficult to eat the whole meal in one sitting. The interior is really nice though and further inside they have sofas for a more casual dining experience if that's what you're looking for.
First time at La Cucina Ristorante. The food was amazing. Loved how they started our meal with fresh bread and olive oil. We had caesar salad, pizza and gnocchi. Our server was so friendly and kind. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Will be back again soon.
