Attorney Michele Da Silva rescued my family out of a complicated legal situation that was at the intersection of family law and immigration law. She handled the case with competence and integrity, ultimately leading it to good resolution. 1. Competence When we first run into the problem we called a couple of other lawyers and they were as baffled by it as we were. Immigration lawyers will tell us to first resolve the family law part, and family lawyers will say talk to an immigration lawyer. We were running in circles. Also the family lawyers were not sure which US state had jurisdiction. There was a component of foreign family law as well. We were lost for about a month trying to find a lawyer or a group that will take on the case. When I met Attorney Da Silva, in our first meeting she cleared our confusion and laid out a plan. We were so relieved at having found an attorney that won't treat the case as a hot potato. We worked on it for multiple years and we are very satisfied by the outcome. Almost every prediction she made at different steps, the courts and officials involved did exactly that. 2. Integrity At times out of desperation I wanted to try somethings that in her best judgement were unlikely to work. She would tell me "I can try that. More hours to bill for me but it won't help you. Save your money." That is professional integrity. There are other examples of her keeping the client's best interest in mind. But I have to conclude.
