After reading positive reviews, we decided to try it, and our dining experience was enjoyable overall. The tempura was flavorful, although we felt the batter was slightly thicker than anticipated, overshadowing the vegetable flavors. The sashimi was exceptionally fresh and delightful, particularly the uni and ankimo. While the sashimi omakase was satisfactory, it did not stand out. The service provided by our server was excellent, and there is potential to enhance the overall ambiance for an even more enjoyable dining experience.

Hashi Gawa was recommended by a colleague of mine. Upon entering you’re greeted with a low key but passionate dining room. Coming in on a Saturday around 1:3pm the place was lively with customers, always a good sign. We took seats at the bar and ordered the omakase as suggested by my colleague (pictured). The selection was AMAZING. Every piece of nigiri was crafted with care and discipline. The fish was fresh, the rice was rich but reserved. The fresh ground wasabi and sliced ginger accented each piece. The variety of flavors was mind blowing.

This sushi place undoubtedly ranks as one of the finest gems in Alameda. Our visit on a Friday night was serendipitous, as we were seated right away, although the line started to lengthen soon after our arrival at 7 PM. Timing, as they say, is everything. One thing that truly sets this place apart is the freshness of their fish. Each piece felt like a testament to their dedication to quality sourcing. It’s that kind of commitment that elevates a sushi experience. But let’s talk about the tempura for a moment – it was nothing short of extraordinary. When the plate arrived at our table, I couldn’t help but marvel at the perfection of the frying technique. It looked, and tasted, unreal – a solid 10/10. The combination of fresh fish and expertly prepared tempura made this dining experience truly exceptional. It’s no wonder the line started to build up as the evening progressed. If you’re seeking top-notch sushi in Alameda, this place should undoubtedly be on your list. Just be sure to arrive early or prepare for a bit of a wait – it’s that good! i

We got the Hashi Sushi Combo which had your choice of roll (we got California) and chef's choice of 7 sushi. This combo was filling and had a good selection of sushi. We also got the Hashi Gawa roll which was ok. The dessert though was the highlight of the meal since that Chestnut Cake was good. Overall, nothing bad but nothing great either.
