Went here with my partner and at first everything was great. Then our therapist started doing virtual, and referred us to her co worker. We set up an appointment and found out the day of the appointment that they were not in network, so we canceled and they said they'd let us know when she got back on insurance. I called to follow up every one or two months, and on my third time calling I had the disprivledge of speaking to a very rude person that made me feel like crap for asking if the therapist was in network with my insurance plan yet. She gave conflicting information from what I'd been told previously and I feel like we were worse off for the experience, which should never be the case with any couples counseling clinic.

Not sure why I bothered giving them my insurance information, because they never attempted to bill my insurance even once. Instead, they insisted they needed to put my debit card on file, and then instantly charged me full price the second each of my visits finished. I was billed for 60min visits, even though my visits were 25min-35min tops each time. Gurnee Counseling Center charged me half a grand without my consent and without trying to get my insurance to cover the visits for approximately 90 minutes of therapy total. How disappointing.

I was scheduled appointments without being informed that my insurance wasn't in network. I should have been informed of this at the very beginning, but the scheduling department didn't even bother to confirm my benefits at my initial appointment, and they informed me months later that I needed to call my insurance company to check, even though that's their job. I figured that I was covered because they processed my insurance card and were booking appointments. I was 18 at the time as well and had no experience with this sort of thing, and I was completely taken advantage of. The scheduling department shoved their responsibilities onto me and booked appointments knowing that I may not have been covered. Do not seek counseling here. I had no issue with my therapist but the scheduling department is completely unprofessional.
