Customer experiences
Candidly, I wish I could leave zero stars. My experience as an online student with Grandview was, to say the least, abhorrent. After I transferred to a different institution, they held my transcript hostage until I paid the full balance off (which totaled thousands of dollars). This policy was not disclosed to me in advance, and Grandview's lack of communication and transparency resulted in a significant delay in my education. They need to understand that many students are poor and working multiple jobs to survive, whilst taking classes. All they care about is getting their money at any cost, bowing to their donors who keep the school afloat, and implementing nonsensical policies that ultimately hurt the students. There are better online colleges that offer much more value than Grandview, and I'd highly recommend that you not waste your time here. I hope this college goes insolvent, and if it does, I will be the first one to throw a party. First round is on me!
Completely my home away from home. Grand View is outstanding for adults who desire to go back to school. The professors are personable, understanding, and more than accommodating. I’ve had to bring my toddler to class with me on several occasions without so much as a second glance from instructors! My advisor is amazingly helpful and wants all of his advisees to succeed. I love the small class sizes and the professor to student ratio is spot on! Even in classes where I have struggled, I was given the extra help I needed because I feel the priority of the staff is having their students do well! I am a veteran and processing my education benefits has always been effortless. There are so many clubs, organizations, and extracurricular activities, students should have no problem finding their niche and becoming comfortable. Reading the few negative reviews sounds more like a reflection of the type of student attending the institution; not the school itself!
Faculty signed me up for 15 credits, and informed me I was on track to graduate it being my final semester. In reality my requirement had been 18 credits to graduate. Now I am 3 credits short of graduation due to a mistake that should have never happened, and would probably never happen at a state school. My experience with sports led to permanent partial disability due to an ongoing injury that neither football coaches, strength coaches, or athletic trainers would take seriously. Many have good things to say about this school but my personal experience has been not good
Grand view university is very clique, has a horrible science program, minimal and somewhat tolerable dining options with little concern to students safety. I was enrolled for a semester and had a horrible experience. My car was broken into and I had little to no help resolving the issue. My roommate and I had no AC until a gas leak occurred within the first couple weeks of moving in and they fixed it with no notice; leaving our desks, furniture and room covered with dirty footprints and build up of dust bunnies from the old AC. When we moved in there was also a used condom and old stickers in our room. Due to the minimal options for food i also lost at least 15 lbs during the months I was enrolled. At the end of the semester I tried connecting with the housing department to discontinue my housing contract for spring semester. I was strung along being told that all these issues should be enough reason to allow me the opportunity to move back home and continue my education. However, the movement was denied, resulting to me having to drop out of grand view. I now understand why their acceptance rate is so high because enrolling in grand view university is pointless unless you are an athlete or take a role in religious groups on campus.
Grand View University is a university.
