I'm really not one to leave poor reviews, but sometimes you gotta share the experience - good or bad. After driving past Smashburger many times, we were really looking forward to trying out a new burger spot in Parry Sound. We should have just kept driving :) Service - there was one person working / taking orders for two restaurants so that became annoying. On top of that, you never get to see how your burger is being made, it's all hidden in the back, so who knows what's going on. It just kinda comes out from behind a curtain like a magic trick. I like to at least have a glimpse at the grill or how fresh it is, etc. Food - I wouldn't say the burger was awful, but when you pay over $50 for two burger combos, you kinda expect it to be up there with the other gourmet spots in the city. This burger tastes more like an $8 burger. The bun ended up completely soggy midway through and I even noticed another guy actually throwing his burger out midway through. Atmosphere - I'd say is just thrown together with no effort. It's just there. Sorry guys, I hope to see you step it up next year with better service, quality and patio. The town needs a solid burger joint!

Glen Burney’s seasonal SMASHBURGER restaurant is one of our favourite casual/fast food places anywhere! That’s really saying something from people who lived in Chicago for years! It’s not a big or fancy operation ( more of a food truck grill set up with high top tables under an awning summer through to Thanksgiving) where they offer a limited but FABULOUSLY delicious selection of casual fare (smashburgers, house smoked brisket sandwiches, buttermilk marinated chicken breast sandwiches, smoked brisket poutine, hot dogs, fries, shakes plus some tasty homemade condiments such as smoked jalapeno mayo & smoked bacon jam etc). After Thanksgiving the tent & dining area outside are taken down (for good reason - it gets cold outside!:), but they’ll still go out of their way to accommodate a request for their delicious smashburgers if you are prepared to wait a little since the regular outdoor dining options are closed & staff reduced for the season after Thanksgiving 💗. In our experience Glen Burney’s Smashburger is keeping company with the best of the best! Small scale & casual they may be, but made with premium ingredients, their Smashburgers are FIRST RATE & & the smoked brisket sandwich is a MUST TRY - rich, delicious & loaded with caramelized onions - this is one that brings us out for that 45 minute drive (each way) on a regular basis during cottage season 🚙 . Here’s a shout out to the SUPER AWESOME proprietors who really go out of their way to accommodate their customers 🙌 ! We decided to get smash burger after the pizza place next door was too busy. The atmosphere is so unique and a setup unlike what we have in Toronto. The portions are huge and it’s cooked hot and fresh. I got the smoked chicken poutine.
