Fantastic service received from Gibbo's Garage. Fitted parts needed on my little fiesta in no time,road tested and thoroughly checked my car for work that will need to be done in the future. Mot'd it afterwards...1st time I have used them and won't be the last...I've worked in the motor trade in the past,and so super impressed with their work
BE WARNED. disgraceful garage, I was warned against using this garage before taking my car there unfortunately I didn’t listen and also fell victim to the ever growing list of unhappy customers. Firstly the audio on my Dashcam picked up the most abhorrent language, behaviour and cluelessness from the mechanics, clearly had no idea what they were doing. They had my car for 7x days charged me £950 and said at the end it needs to go to a landrover specialist as we don’t know what the problem is. I got it to a landrover specialist and they had a field day with what Gibbos had done, ill fitted loose parts that could cause further damage and was dangerous luckily the new professional garage put it right in no time at all before any further harm had occurred. They lied about ordering parts, Gibbos claimed to have ordered parts on a Friday but told me on the Monday that it wouldnt arrive until the Tuesday, knowing that landrover do next day delivery on parts I called them directly and they said Gibbos hadn’t even ordered the parts from them until Monday morning so they blatantly forgot and then lied to me and tried to put the blame on Landrover this lie put my car back a further 4x days. They had my car for 7x days for 30x minutes worth of work they basically just parked it for 6x days before working on it. I have been looping them into emails all week and they are refusing to reply or acknowledge, I presume out of embarrassment, and rightly so id be embarrassed if I was them too.
The experience I had was so bad I can't comprehend the 4.6 stars are real. Had my car for nearly 2 weeks and the service provided and communication was dreadful. The day after taking my car I had to call at 10 minutes before close to see what was wrong to be told it's been done and it's the tyre sensors and would call back with a price the next day, it took 3 days to be given a price (they still had my car), I was then text the price at 350 and accepted. Days later I then call for an update to be told it's not the sensors it's something else and would contact me back with the price. Contacted them days later as low and behold no info to be told it was going to be sorted today and they would call me with the price as they were waiting for invoice but would be a lot less than the 350 quoted for sensors. Today (being the day it's being fixed) I still was not told the price so I called in the morning and they still did not have a price for me. Couple of hours later I get a call to state that it's 350 rather than the 450 for the sensors which isn't correct. They could see I was quoted 350 before. I said it seems incredibly fishy that the OG quoted price has gone up and I'm still paying the same amount after being told it's much cheaper. I spoke to the same lady who denied speaking with me moments before. Unfortunately nowhere in Harlow fixes the issue bar Gibbos so had no choice but to use them. I have never experienced such incompetence and lack of communication. 2 weeks is outrageous to keep a car to fix something so minor. Would never use them again due to this. Very unprofessional and again, just seemed incredibly fishy
My partner took our car to this garage in mid-August for some minor work. A few hours later, we got a call saying the car was ready to collect. However, less than a mile after leaving, the engine light came on. He drove it straight back to the garage, where they kept it for the next three weeks, supposedly trying to fix the issue. During this time, I received no updates — and whenever I asked for a call back, nobody ever returned my calls. After about a week, they told me there might be a problem with the ECU and that it would need to be removed and sent off for testing. They said it would take another week. When I followed up later, they claimed the ECU had been tested and no faults were found. The mechanic then hinted that I should probably take the car elsewhere, since they couldn’t figure out what was wrong — but still asked for payment for the time they had spent. I then took the car to a different garage with a reputable mechanic, providing him with the paperwork from Gibbo’s so he knew what had been done. For two more weeks, he worked on the car under the assumption that the ECU had been properly tested, but all the evidence suggested otherwise. Eventually, he contacted the place where Gibbo’s supposedly sent the ECU — only to discover that it had never been sent there at all, and that the company wouldn’t even have had the equipment required to test it in the first place. On top of this, I’ve been unable to get hold of the manager, and the reception team has been unhelpful throughout. I find it unacceptable to lie to customers and waste their time and money. Because of this, I will be contacting Trading Standards to report the matter further. EDIT: After manager admitted that it was a mess and promised to contact me ASAP and offer a resolution, I waited a whole week and called again, spoke to a lady from the reception who offered me an apology. Thank you for the apology, but unfortunately that won't give us back the time and money that has been wasted. No explanation whatsoever how and why the situation above happened. Your garage has clearly failed all the key obligations and I have filed a complaint through Trading Standards. Avoid this garage at all costs.
