Always enjoy our bruches at Exile. The environment is bright and welcoming. Lots of room between tables so you don't overhear other people's conversations. The background music is always great. My husband and I can have a conversation without shouting at each other, or we can just sit quietly enjoy the Rock'n Roll songs that JAG curated. The food is always delicious, well prepared and served. The people who work there are professionals. Not like other restaurants change servers regularly. We always see familiar faces when we visit.

Have you ever had a Jag Burger? If you have not, I would suggest you try it at least once. If you are feeling like getting a true taste of St. John’s, try the moose burger which is sold at lunch and very tasty (flavoured, clean, not very gamey in comparison to some other animals, good depth of texture and mouth feel while also presenting a lean and fresh overall experience - if that makes sense). As for dessert, crème brûlée will rarely ever lead you astray and at the Exile it leads you towards a creamy and full bodied experience topped with the classic burnt sugar and a chocolate chip cookie for good measure. The decor is quite tasteful and very cool in my opinion. The walls are lined with portraits and covers of famous singers and bands. The bar area is large and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The seating area is spacious and comfortable with good table sizes and enough distance between tables to be able comfortably speak to whomever is joining you and be able to hear what they say. They also play a variety of music.

We stayed in St. John’s for 7 days and we had breakfast at Exile every morning. One of our favourite waiters was Alex, friendly kind and greeted us in Greek every morning! The food was amazing as well as the service. A great start to our days in St. John’s.

I just had the best fish dish I've ever been served in a restaurant! Exile is a phenomenal spot. The flavors in their Romesco Cod were spectacular. The best part was the temperature. My fish stayed piping hot right to my last bite! Not sure how they pulled that off, but I was impressed. They also bring toasted focaccia to your table while you wait. And then there's the atmosphere. They play their music to be heard, unapologetically. It was great! The set list did not disappoint. If I could, I would add a 6th star to this rating.
