their services didn’t work for me and I had to cut ties with them this week. My assigned therapist who I did like and was working with ever since Spring has a problem with listening to people talking about their traumatic experiences. Only wanted to see one way which is that it never helps patients to talk about anything that hurts, ever. Threw coping skills on the table when I would talk about these issues to distract herself from this unavoidable source of my biggest problem. This is not what being trauma-informed is about. And if my disorder which is neurologically debilitating and gives me severe memory impairment can be fixed by learning a new language or piano, I wouldn’t BE HERE. You can read from the span of many therapists’ bios on their website that this is their direction of treatment for patients with Post-Traumatic Stress. So if you are here and you need someone who actually cares, this place will most likely disappoint you. This was wildly uncomfortable for me. Lastly I had waited six months, for this woman to send out a request for a psych evaluation on another diagnosis that my psychiatrist said that I almost certainly have, and would be appropriate to test me for. Last when I tried to get this done I had to call three times and after being told that it would be addressed because I asked my therapist five times, no one got back to me on that either. They instead insisted the very last time I called that I ask her, again. My therapist clearly had a problem with me needing, not wanting, to be tested. Asked, “Well why do you want the diagnosis?” and I’m tired of this notion, that diagnoses for mental illness isn’t necessary. If it’s not obvious why it’s important, I’d ask you if it makes any sense in a situation with a patient being tested for physical ailments. You wouldn’t ask someone who is blind why they want to be tested and diagnosed with a form of blindness. And if mental ailments affects something physical, the brain, it’s a red flag to me that you judge someone being tested and diagnosed is all about validation and not about getting answers and any necessary resources and treatment that they should be receiving. These people are very nice and seemed to want to help me despite what has happened. Unfortunately their actions don’t reflect their bedside manner. They also don’t allow for people to more simply get second opinions on previous psyche tests which is a shame.

I use Lifestance for both therapy and psychiatry now and I am always amazed by the professionalism, yet loving environment. Even over a zoom call I feel safe to share things I know will be confidential. When my therapist at another business ghosted me, Lifestance was able to get me a new therapist within the week! 100% recommend this business.
