Unity Square Market – this end building of the mall has the City Market grocery store, Winners, and DSW. I seem to visit this building often including other tenants-structures within the mall area. The TD branch here is always busy, with one of the main lineups outside of the downtown core. But the City Market building is the worst? Escalator always down, one of the sliding doors out half the time and anyone visiting this venue will agree-same with the elevator-one out always. The construction outside isn’t the issue—it’s been like this for months. The downed conveniences-longer! With three big tenants in this block, you’d think there’d be enough rent-improvement dollars to keep things in shape. No, First Capital (I assume is the landlord) is more interested in allocating those dollars elsewhere-likely better for their stock price. Instead, we’ve got an underground parkade no one uses and above‑ground parking that’s horrendous and only getting worse. Proudly display the LEED certification however!
Good selection of stores. Accessibility is poor, particularly west of 116 street, especially for a shopping centre in such a densely populated area. Extremely narrow sidewalk beside London Drugs, and other narrow spots where two people carrying shopping bags (let alone using mobility devices - walker, stroller, wheelchair etc) cannot pass each other, including outside Canada Post and Loblaws City Market, a major grocery store for the area. Also not enough walkways and marked crosswalks throughout the parking lot.
Great mall shopping square that is easily accessible in the downtown. Safeway, London Drugs, McDonald's and many other businesses are located there. Landscaping is a bit bleak in the Safeway section.
